As an Analytics Engineer, you will develop and maintain analytics platforms, support data collection and orchestration, and improve code quality through best practices. You will collaborate with product teams and participate in on-call support for production services while engaging in a collaborative workplace culture.
The summary above was generated by AI

As an Analytics Engineer with a strong background in JavaScript/Typescript, analytics, and marketing tools you will be responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the in-house and 3rd party platforms used for analytics, tag management, privacy consent management, test automation, and marketing technology tools.

This role will support the functions and capabilities of data collection, orchestration, and validation. This includes the modernizing of existing implementations and generating implementation documentation for partner teams.  We are working to “raise the bar” across our engineering and architecture disciplines and practices - identifying and implementing engineering and quality best practices as we modernize our applications and infrastructure. In this role, you will engage with product engineering teams across the organization, work closely with peer analysts, and deliver impactful projects.

What you’ll do

  • Develop well-documented, scalable, and resilient software by:

    • Writing clean, human-readable code.  Track and consistently apply the feedback received on your code to future work.

    • Developing and designing comprehensive and automated unit and end-to-end tests, while understanding appropriate use of each test type.

    • Actively reviewing the existing codebase and identifying opportunities to improve through refactoring or rewriting.

    • Tracing and debugging issues both in owned code and at the points where owned code interacts with code owned by other teams.

  • Own and support features, modules, and products by:

    • Participating in the on-call support rotation for team’s production services.

    • Being a steward of your team’s products. Deliver stories from inception to providing value for the stakeholders and understand why that work provides value.

    • Ensuring the overall health of the product by contributing and improving team guidelines.

    • Develop a deep understanding of your team’s products and services: what capabilities exist, why they exist, and how to use them.

    • Interpreting key platform metrics, their components, and how to take action from them.

  • Serve as platform administrator for our downstream MarTech solutions by:

    • Demonstrating subject-matter expertise for our platforms by understanding the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of each platform and how to best leverage for the organization.

    • Fully immersing yourself in the product roadmap, mastering new features, learning and applying best practices as they evolve, and staying up-to-date on planned releases.

    • Advocating for opportunities to better leverage the platforms including implementation and fine-tuning opportunities.

    • Providing feedback to platform vendors by surfacing platform defects, submitting feature requests, and attending training and demo sessions.

  • Improve your skills as an engineer by:

    • Carefully researching how the components of our technology stack are designed, why they are designed that way, and understanding the tradeoffs made by those design choices.

    • Learning to define and properly apply abstractions that make our code more flexible and intelligible while reducing overall complexity.

    • Understanding and effectively communicating the system resource and performance impact, at the micro and macro-level, of design decisions.

    • Keeping up-to-date with industry standards, best-practices, and trends and knowing when to adopt those shifts as part of our practices.

    • Learning to take the perspective of others and communicate effectively from that point of view.

  • Contribute to and engage in a collaborative environment by:

    • Being an active participant in all team activities: team ceremonies, banter, troubleshooting, design discussion, work breakdowns, etc.

    • Explaining the purpose of team practices and behaviors, modeling them, and helping less experienced engineers adopt them.

    • Coaching less experienced engineers on our tools, techniques, and patterns, why we’ve chosen those, the tradeoffs we’ve made in choosing them, and their proper application.

This might describe you

  • Worked on at least 2 major projects in the analytics or data engineering space, facilitating the collection and orchestration of user activity data to downstream platforms for reporting and analysis.

  • Experienced implementing and/or working with any of our platforms (or similar tools).
