Own Anza Exchange end to end, including strategy, growth, product roadmap, transactions, and P&L. About the Company

Anza combines data, technology and expertise to transform the downstream solar and energy storage supply chain. We started in 2021. Procurement was inefficient, supply chains kept getting more volatile, and solar and storage projects always needed to cost less. We saw both a market need and a chance to dramatically improve procurement outcomes, so members of the Borrego team launched Anza. Today we run two business lines: platform subscriptions and technology-enabled procurement services. Both have gained traction quickly. We've worked with more than 100 of the industry's leading IPPs, and we've been EBITDA positive since 2022.
Our newest venture is Anza Exchange, a marketplace where US power companies buy and sell transformers, PV modules, high-voltage breakers and other large capital equipment. That includes equipment already in inventory and equipment on order that's no longer needed. In this market, lead times stretch for years and project plans change constantly, so stranded equipment and unmet demand sit side by side. The Exchange connects them. A pilot is live, and we're now building the team to take it further.

At Anza, we don’t accept the status quo. We are driven by a culture of teamwork, a growth mindset and continuous improvement as we pursue our mission. Since its inception, we have surpassed our growth goals and are looking forward to continuing to build a great team and platform. We believe in having an ownership company culture, so we have implemented an attractive equity program. Join us!

About the role

The General Manager of Anza Exchange will own the business end to end: strategy, growth, product and P&L. They will report directly to the CEO. This is a founding role. You'll take a working pilot and turn it into a scaled marketplace, with Anza's customer relationships and market data behind you.

You'll start with a small, dedicated team including engineering. You'll set the product roadmap and work hands-on with the team to ship it, and you'll hire and grow the team as the business scales. You'll work closely with Anza's commercial teams across the company.

We're looking for a builder who has scaled a two-sided marketplace or a transaction-driven B2B business. Marketplace, business development and product experience matter more to us than power-industry experience. Familiarity with industrial equipment, energy or other complex B2B categories is a plus.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build supply by bringing equipment owners onto the Exchange
  • Build demand by turning project teams and procurement leaders into active, repeat buyers
  • Design and refine the transaction model and deal workflow
  • Set the product roadmap and work hands-on with the engineering team to ship it
  • Partner with Anza's commercial teams to grow the Exchange
  • Recruit, coach and grow the Exchange team as the business scales
  • Report on performance and investment needs to the CEO and executive team

While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes:

  • 8+ years of experience, including at least 3 years building or leading a two-sided marketplace, B2B platform or transaction-driven business
  • Strong business development skills, with experience closing deals with enterprise or industrial counterparties
  • Product management experience, including working directly with engineers to define, prioritize and ship features
  • P&L ownership, or clear accountability for revenue and unit economics (big plus)
  • Experience as a founder, early employee or GM of a new business line (plus)
  • Experience in industrial equipment, energy, construction, logistics or other complex B2B supply chains (plus)
  • Relationships with IPPs, developers, utilities, EPCs or equipment OEMs (plus)
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a small team, with the ambition to build a large business
