AppDynamics Integration Specialist
ROLE
We need an AppDynamics Integration Specialist at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers by providing temporary assistance to eligible individuals and families with social service and economic needs, supported by IT Services (ITS) which operates the critical technology infrastructure behind the agency’s programs. DSS is currently executing a large-scale Data Center Co-location and Migration Project to consolidate multiple data centers into a new facility at 11 MetroTech in Brooklyn, replacing end-of-life infrastructure and mitigating risk of service disruption to agency operations. In this role, you will define normalization of AppDynamics data, configure thresholds and filters to reduce noise, optimize ServiceNow alert correlation rules, map AppDynamics alerts to ServiceNow Event Management severity levels, and create automation rules for incident management and service map updates. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define proper normalization of AppDynamics data (e.g., alert types, severity, and CI alignment).
- Define thresholds and filters in AppDynamics to reduce noise and eliminate unnecessary events in ServiceNow.
- Optimize ServiceNow alert correlation rules to group related alerts into actionable incidents.
- Map AppDynamics alerts to ServiceNow's Event Management rules and severity levels.
- Create the automation rules for incident management and the updates to the Service Maps.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Foundational knowledge of AppDynamics, including alert types, severity levels, and event configuration
- Understanding of ServiceNow Event Management, alert correlation rules, and severity mapping
- Ability to define alert thresholds and suppression filters to reduce noise in downstream systems
- Basic knowledge of incident management automation rules in ServiceNow
- Familiarity with service map updates triggered by monitoring events
- Understanding of the relationship between APM (Application Performance Monitoring) data and ITSM workflows
- 1-2 years of experience with AppDynamics administration or integration work
- Exposure to ServiceNow Event Management or IT Operations Management (ITOM) modules
- Experience with alert normalization and correlation in a monitoring-to-ITSM pipeline
- Familiarity with IT automation concepts and incident lifecycle management
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field – preferred

- Compensation Range: $46.70 - $64.84/hr commensurate on experience
