About Tuesday
Tuesday Lab builds delightful robots that bring joy into homes worldwide. We are driven by a desire to make everyday life easier and more fun through cutting-edge robotics. If you like building mods for your favorite games, and take inspiration from sci-fi rather than real life, you should come work at the Lab.
We are engineers, researchers, and builders who love living among our creations. Our mission is to make our magical world of animated objects accessible to everyone.
AR/VR Contractor
We are seeking a talented Contract VR Developer to design and build a robot design utility. This role is critical for developing the tools that allow us to seamlessly test and refine our robot’s design.
You will be responsible for creating a high-fidelity, low-latency mixed-reality application using Unreal Engine and the Meta Quest 3. This interface must be intuitive, very easy to use, and visually polished to the point that it feels magical.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and iterate a high-performance VR robot application interface in Unreal Engine 5.
Develop a robust, low-latency, multi-user VR experience, ensuring seamless synchronization between users.
Integrate 3D robot assets and custom animations, implementing blending techniques to ensure fluid, natural motion without visual artifacts.
Design and build an intuitive and simple operator UI within the VR environment.
Collaborate with engineering and art teams to integrate assets and rapidly iterate on the user experience.
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of professional experience in Unreal Engine mobile or VR/AR specific development, preferably with shipped titles or applications.
Expertise in Unreal Engine (UE5) and C++.
Hands-on experience developing and optimizing for Android, and ideally the Meta Quest platform, using Unreal Engine.
Strong experience with 3D animation pipelines, including importing, retargeting, and blending animations in-engine.
Experience developing networked or multi-user VR/AR applications with a focus on low-latency synchronization.
A keen eye for user experience (UX) and visual fidelity.
Nice-to-haves:
Artistic and technical ability to improve avatar assets (skins, sounds, animations, etc).
Experience with robotics or teleoperation interfaces.
Familiarity with advanced animation techniques (e.g., procedural animation, Foot IK).
About You:
Product Focus: You will do whatever it takes to deliver reliable, delightful experiences.
Technical Excellence: Deep knowledge of VR development with a demonstrated ability to design, implement, test, and iterate quickly.
If you don’t have these qualifications, but you really want to do this job, you should apply for it anyway. This is a startup: passion and work ethic count for a lot.
What Tuesday Offers:
The opportunity to play a critical role in developing the future of home robotics. You will be building an important piece of infrastructure and your design decisions will make the difference between a delightful companion and a dysfunctional boondoggle.
Work alongside people with deep expertise who love playful applications and are excited about building the future.
The option to work evenings or weekends instead of the traditional M-F 9-5pm schedule.
