Assistant to Head of Lower School

Salary Range $75,000 - $80,000
Overview:
The Spence Lower School seeks an organized, energetic, and collaborative individual to serve as Executive Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Head of Lower School, this role is central to the daily life of the division and serves as a welcoming and responsive presence for students, families, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate will join a community that values collaboration, thoughtful communication, and a deep commitment to the education of girls. The candidate should be an organized and detail-oriented administrative assistant with experience supporting school operations, staff and students in a Lower School environment.This is a dynamic position for someone who enjoys being at the heart of a school, balancing multiple priorities while contributing to a warm and engaging environment.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the Head of Lower School to support the daily operations of the division, including calendar management, correspondence, and scheduling.
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Lower School, fostering a welcoming and professional experience for all community members.
- Coordinate and manage parent communications and the Lower School calendar; maintain accurate and timely updates to the website and other platforms.
- Oversee essential office functions, including student attendance, database management, purchasing, daily bus dismissal and logistics for events and special programs.
- Organize and implement complex events including parent conferences, curriculum mornings and field trips.
- Take on special projects as needed.
- Deliver strong customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task with competing priorities.
- Contribute to a school culture that supports the growth, development, and well-being of children.
- Possesses a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least five years of administrative experience, ideally in a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to excellent service.
- Finds joy in working in schools.
- Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Approaches work with energy, kindness, maturity, curiosity, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
- Regards collaboration as an essential component of professional growth and values working on a team.
- Proficiency with general technology skills including Google Workspace and the ability to learn new platforms with ease.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse community and a commitment to inclusive, equitable practices.
