Hill House Home is seeking an Assistant Merchant to join our New York team, reporting directly to the Merchandising Manager. This role supports the Merchandising team in bringing seasonal product lines to life from inception to launch. The AM will play a key role in competitive marketplace research,  product creation & management, and cross-functional coordination to help achieve annual KPIs.


What You’ll Do:
  • Support seasonal line planning and product strategy across assigned categories 
  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Operations, PD/ Production, Retail, and Planning to execute merchandising initiatives.
  • Help manage merchandising calendars and ensure alignment to key product and go-to-market milestones.
  • Support sample management, proto reviews, and product updates throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain assortment tools, market tools, and internal merchandising guides.
  • Analyze business performance and create reporting including selling recaps,  projections and bookings
  • Track merchandise logistics and help resolve shipping or inventory flow issues.
  • Support product readiness for digital and creative needs, including attribution, photography planning, copy and image validation.
  • Contribute to workflow optimization and continuous improvement across merchandising and product processes.
Who You Are:
  • 0–3 years of merchandising, buying, or retail business experience preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and comfort working with data and reporting tools.
  • Collaborative and cross-functional, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Passionate about product, brand storytelling, and the fashion/retail industry.
  • Experience working with merchandising systems, dashboards, or PLM tools is a plus.

Compensation for the role will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. The estimated annual compensation for this role is $55,000-$65,000
