This position supports senior members of Mission Capital Advisors, LLC in their commercial real estate, commercial / industrial and business whole loan sale efforts (with an emphasis on CRE). The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity. S/he will focus on valuation and underwriting of commercial real estate, commercial / industrial and business whole loans, while also gaining exposure to performing/distressed/charged-off residential and consumer loan trading. Additionally, the Analyst/Associate will increase his/her network of debt capital markets participants/customers, including commercial and investment banks, specialty finance companies, and funds. 

What you'll be doing in the role:

  • CRE and Business / C&I loan portfolio data review, normalization, stratification and analysis
  • Valuation of CRE properties (discounted cash flow, comparable sale, value PSF approaches)
  • Valuation of loans secured by commercial real estate, business assets and other commercial collateral with associated financial modeling and cash flow projections
  • Analysis of market data
  • Virtual data room set up / coordinate data transfer with investors, servicers and lenders
  • Preparation of due diligence materials and loan files 
  • Transaction status reporting
  • Interacting with existing/potential clients and investors 
  • Assisting in closing transactions 
  • Assisting in responses to client RFPs 

Ideal Background & Skills Needed for the Role:

  • 1-4 years experience in a mortgage origination, real estate, or structured products analyst program at a financial service, investment sales, or real estate private equity firm (bank, consulting/accounting, REIT, hedge fund)
  • Prior career experience in real estate underwriting / investment analysis, lending or special servicing, and/or in structured products
  • Argus experience is highly preferred
  • Strong MS Excel and database skills are a must, Salesforce experience, visual basic and python scripting skills are a plus
  • Modeling/underwriting experience of Office, Hospitality and/or Retail properties is a plus
  • Financial modeling and data analysis skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail 
  • Ability to work as part of a team 
  • Strong drive and desire to take on responsibility
  • Genuine interest in debt capital markets / commercial real estate
