Associate Counsel - Immigration Law focus preferred
The ZS Legal Team reviews contracts, advises the firm on matters of legal consequence, and proactively assesses and manages the firm's risk exposure. The legal team is responsible for staying abreast of legal developments impacting the firm on a global basis and then advising the firm based on the changing legal landscape.
As we continue to grow our firm, we are currently looking for an Associate Counsel with experience in immigration law and employment law matters to join our Chicago - Merchadise Mart office. Our legal team reviews contracts, advises the firm on matters of legal consequence, and proactively assesses and manages the firm's risk exposure. The legal team is responsible for staying abreast of legal developments impacting the firm on a global basis and then advising the firm based on the changing legal landscape.
What you'll do:

• Prepare review, revise and negotiate legal documents to ensure the firm's obligations are compatible with management's philosophy;
• Respond to issues as they arise in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters;
• Assist HR with employee issues;
• Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate stakeholders;
• Respond to and counsel internal stakeholders on employment risks related to specific work issues/scenarios as they arise and which may affect day-to-day business operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters;
• Stay abreast of legal developments and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies;
• Draft, review, revise and negotiate legal agreements;
• Protect the firm in all business relationships;
• Ensure the firm's compliance with legal policies, state and federal laws, and regulations;
• Identify potential legal issues and elevate them as needed; and
• Establish and maintain relationships, credibility and trust with stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues.

What you'll bring:

• JD degree with strong academic background required;
• 1-2 years of relevant work experience, IL attorney license (or registered in-house counsel in IL);
• Superior oral and written communication skills;
• Motivation, personal initiative and strong team/interpersonal skills;
• Strong analytic skills and problem solving ability;
• Excellent project management skills;
• Proven attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
• Excellent time management skills; and
• Flexibility to facilitate meeting with internal and external contacts globally.

Salary: $115,000.00 - $127,000.00
