SUMMARY: 

The Associate Designer is responsible for the execution of the entire design process and administration of product lines. Will design and develop woven tops, bottoms, swim and prints with the guidance of the Design Director. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action) and present concepts and collections in internal meetings.
  • Assists in ensuring that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy.
  • Responsible for trend research and inspiration.
  • Responsible for illustrator sketches, 3D CAD design, fit comments and final product execution.
  • Works with the design director to create a clear direction for the fabric and print development team.
  • Generate tech packs for new and carryover styles in the PLM system.
  • Partners with merchandising and product development team for approval of sales samples to ensure garment is production-ready.

SKILLS: 

  • High level of creativity with a passion for design
  • Knowledge of woven fabrics for shirts/pants and layering.
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to learn new computer technology including 3-D design
  • Strong research, design, and conceptual skills
  • Strong sense of color and taste level
  • Time management and organizational skills, ability to multitask

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
  • 2-4 years experience, in men's apparel

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience. For this New York based position, the expected base salary is $67,000 - $75,000.
