OVERVIEW

Customer Data is at the heart of our ability to understand, engage, and empower consumers — enabling us to drive personalized experiences responsibly.

As Associate Director, Customer Data Platforms and Analytics Engineering, you will be responsible for implementing and operationalizing the evolution of Consumer Reports' Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), Analytics Engineering & Business Intelligence capabilities for analysis-ready datasets, reports, and services to augment decision-making, drive customer acquisition/retention, and power personalization initiatives. This role will report to the Director of the team while mentoring and managing others.

How You’ll Make An Impact

As Associate Director, Customer Data Platforms & Analytics Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing our customer data platforms and driving personalization solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will develop, optimize, and scale data capabilities while mentoring engineers and ensuring high-quality, analytics-ready data.

On a daily basis, you’ll roll up your sleeves to move our mission forward through hands-on execution, managing a high performing team to drive impact in the following areas:

  • Customer Data Platforms (CDPs): Develop, maintain, and optimize CDPs to collect, unify, enrich, and activate customer data across multiple channels—enabling a 360-degree customer view to support product and marketing initiatives.
  • Analytics Engineering: Build and optimize scalable data pipelines across lakehouses, data warehouses, and curated data marts, ensuring clean, high-quality, and analytics-ready datasets that serve diverse organizational needs.
  • Personalization: Leverage first-party data and behavioral segmentation to drive tailored consumer experiences and power data-driven personalization strategies across digital products and marketing channels.
  • Business Intelligence (BI): Build and maintain BI platforms and tools, ensuring seamless integration of curated datasets to support data-driven decision-making across teams

ABOUT YOU

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

  • You have the right foundation. You hold a Master’s degree in a STEM field and bring at least 7 years of experience in Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), including 3+ years of managing high-performing teams.
  • You can code with the best. You have deep expertise in Python, SQL, and Unix Shell Scripting, leveraging them for data transformation, automation, and analytics engineering.
  • You’re fluent in Analytics and BI architecture. You have comprehensive experience in building and scaling large-scale data warehouses and lakes (Databricks, Snowflake) on cloud platforms (AWS), designing ETL/ELT pipelines, and developing BI platforms (Tableau, Domo, D3, etc.)
  • You communicate with impact. You translate complex technical data concepts into actionable business insights, making them understandable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation informed by location, as well as the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. It is expected that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of the posted salary range. We have three locations: Yonkers, NY, Washington, DC and Colchester, CT. We are registered to do business in and can only hire from the following states and federal district: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, DC.

Salary ranges

NY/California: $185,000-$195,000 annually
DMV/Massachusetts: $160,000-$169,000 annually
Colchester, CT and additional approved CR locations:  $154,000-$162,000 annually
