Job Description

Title: Associate Director of Federal Government Affairs 

Location: Washington, D.C 

Reports to: Global Head of Government Affairs 

 

Position Summary  

 

The Associate Director of Government Affairs will serve on federal government affairs team for the Kraft Heinz Company (KHC) and will report to the Director of Federal Government Affairs The role will require robust understanding of the legislative process and established relationships with policymakers and staff on Capitol Hill and officials within the executive branch including USDA, FDA, USTR, Commerce, EPA, etc.   

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Analyze and understand the business impact of proposed federal legislation and regulations that may impact on the company’s operations, workforce, etc.   

  • Develop creative government relations strategies to support KHC’s business interests and support the company’s advocacy efforts. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant government officials, legislative offices, industry partners and thought leaders in Washington DC 

  • Demonstrate leadership skills, including ability to advance company interests in venues that require consensus building 

  • Anticipate emerging federal issues that are of importance to the company 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal Kraft Heinz stakeholders. 

  • Provide government affairs council to business leadership. 

  • Identifies and resolves challenges for the business. 

  • Internally collaborates cross-functionally with key internal colleagues and content experts across the Company to identify and manage issues. 

 

Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of demonstrated success within the government, trade association and/or corporate government affairs function 

  • Robust understanding of the legislative process and established relationships with policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch (USDA, FDA, USTR, Commerce, EPA, etc.) 

  • Domain expertise in food and agricultural policy 

  • Strong project management skills and a track record of coalition-building 

  • Track record of delivering results 

  • Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of public settings 

  • Experience managing outside resources, including consultants, on legislative or public policy-related initiatives a plus 

  • Ability to work as a team player 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with a CPG or manufacturing company   

  • J.D. or Master’s Degree

  • Strong communication skills with comfort in speaking with business stakeholders

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$164,200.00 - $205,200.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
