Newsweek is expanding its audio and video operations and is seeking a collaborative, solutions-oriented Associate Editor, Video Podcasts to support a growing portfolio of video podcasts. The Associate Editor will play a key part in translating Newsweek’s journalism and conversations into compelling, high-quality video content across platforms. They will oversee daily studio capture, live switching, and editing, with responsibility for delivering two full video podcasts per day. The role also includes a dotted-line relationship with Newsweek’s Social Team, ensuring timely delivery of clips, reels, and social-first video.

This position will work on-site at our New York Headquarters five days a week, and will primarily work Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with occasional nights and weekends as news coverage requires.

Responsibilities:

  • Live switch live-to-tape, multi-camera podcast productions in Newsweek’s NYC studio.
  • Capture, edit, and deliver two complete podcast episodes daily.
  • Edit long-form and short-form video using Adobe Premiere Pro, maintaining Newsweek’s visual standards.
  • Implement and customize MOGRTs for lower thirds and branded elements.
  • Mix and level audio to broadcast-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with producers, hosts, and social editors to support daily publishing.
  • Apply strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and problem-solving in a fast-paced newsroom.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a newsroom, digital media company, or podcast studio.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and multi-camera editing workflows.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment.
  • Strong understanding of social video platforms and audience engagement.
  • Experience with studio switchers such as Blackmagic ATEM or similar systems.
  • Must be able to work on-site in New York City, Monday through Friday

Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000 (commensurate with experience; final compensation may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
