Overview:Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations Support, the Associate Engagement Manager in an operations facility plays a critical role in maintaining a positive and productive work environment, driving employee satisfaction, and ensuring smooth communication between staff and leadership.
An Employee Engagement Manager involves developing strategies to improve employee satisfaction, morale, and performance. They are responsible for observing and analyzing engagement challenges and designing programs that help increase job satisfaction, retain talent, and foster a positive work environment. A Manager may and will build relationships with employees through communication and feedback mechanisms, organize roundtables (with the support of the plant leadership and human resource business partners), and create campaigns to promote awareness of the company’s mission and values

The Employee Engagement Manager works alongside plant leadership and human resource business partners to identify problem areas and implement practical solutions to improve employee engagement. The goal is to create a culture where employees feel valued, motivated, and committed to the company's success.
The job demands excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and data analysis abilities. An Employee Engagement Manager should have knowledge of employee engagement theories and be familiar with various employee engagement tools and metrics. A background in psychology, communications, or related fields is typically a plus.

Job Description:

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and create annual themes, programs, activities, and strategies that foster increased employee morale and retention
  • These “programs” should be consistent throughout all operations
  • Gather feedback, in conjunction with plant leadership, and human resources, to understand employee satisfaction levels 
  • Collaborate with other departments (food safety, health and wellness, etc..) to create initiatives and programs that promote employee engagement
  • Facilitate team-building activities and events
  • Where and if applicable: Provide training and coaching to managers on how to improve employee satisfaction
  • Continue to support an open-door policy for employees to communicate with leadership
  • Monitor and report on engagement metrics and make recommendations for improvement
  • Recognize and reward employees for exceptional work and contributions
  • Analyze trends and adjust engagement strategies as necessary
  • In conjunction with our Director, Internal Communications & Community Relations, develop, and guide the employer brand while conveying it through programs and community support
  • Developing and executing marketing, digital, and media campaigns to promote engagement
  • Work on ensuring all facilities are maintaining the correct and proper brand standards 
  • Travel is required. 40-60%
  • This role requires flexibility with your schedule 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience working in employee engagement or retention.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and develop strategies for boosting employee morale and productivity.
  • Employee Engagement Managers often work closely with leadership and human resources to implement programs, such as team-building initiatives and recognition programs.
  • Success in this field requires creativity, collaboration, and a genuine passion for helping employees feel valued and happy in the workplace.

Overall, the role is designed to enhance employee experience, strengthen the culture within the operations facility, and improve overall productivity and retention by ensuring associates feel valued and supported in their roles.

  • Must possess or be able to establish trust and working relationships at all levels.
  • Project management skills – tracking work plans, milestones, deliverables, etc. Ability to take direction from their manager and work independently to achieve desired results. Identify contingency plans when issues arise. Provide frequent status reports (both written & oral) to key stakeholders. Ensure objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Communication- adjusts to the audience, ensures understanding, and facilitation skills required. Mastery of understanding of verbal and non-verbal communication. 
  • Collaboration/Partnering- able to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships across all departments, specifically Plant Management, HR, and Associates. 
  • Associate-focused- ensure that associates’ needs are built into the solutions and processes.
  • Continuous Learning– Stays current and maintains a general understanding of learning resources and trends.
  • Flexibility – Able to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, and Outlook.
