Job Description

Brookfield is seeking an Associate to work on our Sustainability Management team. The position presents an opportunity to work on strategic projects advancing the firm’s sustainability initiatives, including evaluating sustainability data and communicating and quantifying aspects of our program. The Sustainability Management Associate will report into the Vice President, Sustainability Management and will collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with communication of the firm’s approach to sustainability in written materials, such as the annual Sustainability Report and written client materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the business. This includes liaising across functions and working with greenhouse gas emissions data, among other key performance indicators.

  • Support responding to investor requests, including monitoring incoming requests and completing questionnaires.

  • Assist in data aggregation and analysis, as well as manage key projects, providing timely updates to stakeholders with increasing responsibilities over time.

  • Liaise with finance and sustainability professionals across Brookfield’s businesses to leverage financial reporting, including key operating metrics, for sustainability reporting and public disclosure documents. Analyze key drivers behind period-over-period changes and assist in the production and review of sustainability results and related deliverables provided to the Board and senior management.

  • Conduct research on sustainability practices across clients, leading sustainability organizations, vendors, consultants, and peers.

  • Research and analyze sustainability themes, presenting complex topics in a succinct and digestible way to internal stakeholders.

  • Support the Sustainability Management team in client interactions such as preparing presentations, pre-meeting research and communicating with client-facing teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. Completed CPA or related designation is optional but highly regarded.

  • At least five years of relevant work experience, preferably in sustainability within a corporate environment (e.g,, Financial Services, Asset Management, Big 4 Consulting)

  • Proficient in MS Office (MS Word, PowerPoint). Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and has a tech-savvy attitude to identify, analyze and implement changes that enhance business performance. Experience using Power BI is optional but highly regarded.

  • Superior interpersonal skills and communication skills (oral and written). Able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Takes initiative; analytical and resourceful with the ability to distill information from research, summarize and illustrate analyses in a presentation or written format; ability to make the complex simple.

  • Strong ability to work independently. Organized and able to prioritize, share information efficiently, meet deadlines and deliver in a multi-project, fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple parallel assignments.

  • Disciplined, detail-oriented team player with a predisposition to learn and foster relationships. Maintains professionalism working in a highly fast-paced corporate environment.

New York Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
