Business Insider is hiring an Associate UX/UI Designer to join our UXD team to support the creation of thoughtful, user-centered experiences across our products while developing foundational design skills and strong cross-functional collaboration.

The Role & Team:As an Associate UX/UI Designer, you’ll be fully supported by Senior Designers to continually hone and develop your UX skills, while also having many opportunities to exercise those skills across all of our Business Insider products to elevate user experiences.
This role has a strong emphasis on skill development, feedback, and growth. You’ll contribute to multiple projects while building fluency in BI’s design systems, tools, and workflows. You’ll be encouraged to explore multiple solutions, ask questions, and iterate thoughtfully.
The Associate UX/UI Designer reports directly to the Group UXD Manager and sits on the Product & Tech team. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop core design skills, deliver production-ready designs, and learn to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Learn and apply Business Insider’s design system, patterns, and accessibility standards to ensure consistency and quality.
- Conduct competitor research and user-testing sessions to help inform design decisions and elevate the user experience.
- Continually incorporate feedback from peers, partners, and stakeholders in a thoughtful and effective manner.
- Experience with designing and prototyping with Figma products and a desire to master those tools.
- Some familiarity working with design systems, basic UX writing, and collaborative product workflows.
- Strong communication skills, curiosity, an eagerness to learn and receive feedback, and the ability to articulate design decisions to the rest of the team.
- An empathetic approach to collaborating with teammates and solving problems for our users.
- Demonstrable knowledge of core UX/UI design principles, including visual hierarchy, accessibility standards, mindfulness regarding cognitive load, and interaction design.
- An eagerness and passion to learn about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX/UI design.
- Base salary: $95,000 - $105,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
