About this role

What team will you be on?

The COO Platform Development team within BlackRock Global Markets ("BGM") is seeking a London based business manager to work with the leadership team in support of the Markets platform and related activities. The team is responsible for governance, oversight and evolution of the platform, risk management, business continuity and large strategic projects across the three BGM Markets businesses of Trading, ETF Markets and BlackRock Capital Markets.


Why is your role important?

In this role you will represent BGM Markets in broader firm wide critical initiatives while pursuing operational excellence and discipline to deliver for our clients. You will work closely with all Markets teams and key business partners, internally and externally, to run cross-functional projects and ensure timely completion. You will also support the innovation of the business platform through the introduction of new technologies and processes, whilst managing risk in a high-volume environment.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to interact effectively and independently across regions with market facing colleagues from all asset classes, portfolio managers and business partners, to drive consensus decision making and deliver key markets related strategic projects. A fundamental knowledge and keen interest in capital markets, technology and ongoing developments in the changing landscape of trading are preferred.


What will you be doing?

  • Assist in mitigation of risk across BGM Markets, managing complex challenges through to appropriate outcomes
  • Lead global initiatives impacting Markets teams created by regulatory change, the market ecosystem and strategic corporate initiatives
  • Apply governance and oversight to effectively oversee vendors and platforms used by market facing teams globally
  • Work with traders and trading partners to onboard new counterparties, trading platforms and other technologies to evolve the trading platform and create robust scalability
  • Work with markets and continuity specialists globally to co-ordinate business continuity plans and processes across all Markets teams to ensure optimal solutions to always support our clients
  • Develop relationships with traders, data scientists and analysts, developers and other Markets stakeholders internally and Relationship Managers externally, to support and progress the global business

  • Critical thinker and problem solver with strong analytical skills and the ability to understand, translate and solve complex, often unstructured, issues
  • A knowledge and understanding of global markets to enable independent solutioning of challenges
  • Ability to articulate and translate ideas into audience appropriate communication
  • Knowledge of industry technology and system analytics is helpful
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion are essential
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills

Our hybrid work model
