The Associate Vice President, Enterprise Product Development will lead the transformation and optimization of the R&D operating model across Agilent’s business group. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, integrating modern development tools and digital capabilities, establishing Centers of Excellence (CoEs), and enabling high-performance, scalable R&D processes. The AVP will act as a strategic partner and operational leader, ensuring that product lifecycle practices, engineering methodologies, and development tools are unified, efficient, and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities
Product Lifecycle Optimization
- Accelerate the Product Lifecycle (PLC) across the organization by driving a single enterprise-wide best-practice system with standardized frameworks and governance.
- Lead training, coaching, and change management to ensure adoption across all business groups.
- Use KPIs and analytics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
Engineering for Excellence
- Define and maintain enterprise-level engineering standards, tools, test methods, and design frameworks.
- Lead the Engineering Leadership Forum to drive alignment and best-practice sharing.
- Partner with product and technology leaders to strengthen technical rigor and innovation culture.
Digital Tool Chain Management
- Manage and modernize the end-to-end digital development tool chain and ensure enterprise interoperability.
- Evaluate, deploy, and integrate common tools that enhance productivity and process efficiency.
- Provide training and best-practice guidance to ensure consistent, effective tool usage.
Shared Capability Development
- Build and lead Centers of Excellence (COEs) to provide shared engineering capabilities and support modular, reusable design.
- Establish common design hubs to enable scalable, high-quality engineering support.
- Promote reuse, modularity, and platform consistency across business groups.
R&D Partnerships & Ecosystem Management
- Lead operational partnerships with external design firms and internal development collaborators.
- Define engagement models and governance for strategic engineering and design partners.
- Ensure seamless integration of partner deliverables into PLC processes and R&D workflows.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Engineering or related technical field preferred), or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of increasing managerial responsibility, including leadership of directors, managers, and senior technical contributors.
- Broad knowledge of R&D operations, engineering practices, product development processes, and digital tool ecosystems.
- Demonstrated experience integrating and leading multiple complex functions such as engineering, systems development, PLC management, tooling, or shared service organizations.
- Proven ability to develop and oversee program, organizational, and transformational strategies.
- Strong track record of implementing enterprise-scale process frameworks, engineering standards, or development toolchains.
- Experience building organizational capability through coaching, training, governance, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, influencing senior leaders, and driving alignment across diverse business groups.
- Experience managing external partnerships and integrating third-party development resources into internal processes.

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
