Job Description

The Audience & Marketing Manager participates in the strategic development and execution of innovative, data-driven audience growth and marketing campaigns. They will sit within the Audience Strategy & Growth team and focus on expanding and diversifying TED’s audiences at the top-of-funnel, nurturing their engagement and identifying ways to build their loyalty. They’ll work closely with teams across media, events and business units to recommend and execute marketing strategies that drive revenue for TED.

Key aspects of this work involve developing and executing campaigns and content strategies to drive new users to TED initiatives and products — including newsletters, podcasts, events, Membership, TED.com and more. They’ll utilize existing go-to marketing tools like email, Web banners, and social media, while also brainstorming new and exciting ways to best reach TED’s target audiences. Beyond discovery and awareness, this role will work closely with initiative stakeholders to identify ways to deepen audience loyalty and retention, and to nurture strategies that support conversion goals. The Audience & Marketing Manager will also support and build TED’s culture of data-informed decision-making, helping to support org-wide audience research and data projects, create structures around marketing performance reports and translate data into actionable insights.

Role & Responsibilities

Audience & Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and execute organic and paid strategies to drive awareness and engagement with key TED initiatives, not limited to TED.com, newsletters, podcasts, events, and Membership.

  • Work with cross-departmental stakeholders and product owners to develop audience growth strategies that support goals across awareness, engagement and conversion

  • Create, socialize and implement comprehensive multi-channel campaign proposals 

  • Own and execute SEO and SEM strategies to increase discoverability, drive qualified traffic, and inform long-term audience acquisition plans

  • Identify ways to tap into external brands, content creators and industry leaders as a way to grow priority audience segments for TED

  • Support TED’s larger brand and marketing goals by creating and maintaining unified and cohesive approaches across all initiatives

  • Provide strategic guidance and editorial oversight for copywriters, designers and product teams to optimize campaigns to meet TED’s marketing goals

  • Develop and manage audience lists that serve email marketing campaigns

Data + Insights

  • Analyze campaign performance, identify takeaways and insights, uncover areas of improvement and socialize findings with stakeholders across the org 

  • Utilize analytics, survey feedback and competitive insights to optimize marketing across channel, messaging and creative

  • Support the creation and refinement of data-backed audience personas

  • Partner with TED’s Tech team to develop and hone reporting structures

  • Support the development and execution of brand and audience studies

  • Inform organizational efforts to organize and systemize audience data 

Operations & Project Management

  • Oversee and help to manage the team’s project roadmaps and deliverables 

  • Work closely with Brand Creative team and designers to convey asset requirements, campaign approaches and timelines

  • Manage relationships and nurture collaborations with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure campaign, team and organizational success

  • Provide copywriting and copyediting support as necessary

  • Serve as additional support on ad building across Web and newsletters as necessary

Qualifications

  • Degree (preferred) or diploma in commerce, administration, communications or similar discipline, or similar experience. 
  • 3-5 years of customer support experience, both in-person and online. 
  • Experience using CRMs to effectively manage customer data, communications, and customer support. 
  • Experience working in events or similar industry (ex. theater, TV, etc). 
  • Extensive knowledge of Google applications / Microsoft suite (especially Excel / Sheets). 
  • Tech-savvy, fast learner of new tools. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and accuracy. 
  • Ability to pivot and prioritize simultaneous projects based on urgency. 
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must be able to commute to the NYC office for meetings and events as well as travel internationally as needed.

Additional Information

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $90,000.
