The Automation QA Engineer is vital for ensuring the reliability, performance, and correctness of our entire supply chain e-commerce platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive automated test suites across the e-commerce user interface, complex internal business workflows (MES, WMS, OMS), and the logic governing our next-generation AI agents.
Internship Details
Duration: 3 months
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Remote
Stipend: None initially. Based on your first-quarter performance, you may be offered a paid full-time opportunity, or even be absorbed directly by the client as an FTE.
You will embed quality assurance directly into the development and deployment lifecycle, serving as the gatekeeper for production releases.
Test Suite Development: Develop and maintain robust, end-to-end automated test suites covering critical e-commerce flows (catalog navigation, checkout, payments, invoicing) and complex internal tool workflows (OMS/WMS operations).
Quality Gates (CI/CD): Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline (managed via Makefile) to enforce quality gates, ensuring no regressions are introduced and the platform adheres to performance standards before deployment.
Performance & Load Testing: Implement and execute performance testing and load testing protocols to validate the scalability and resilience of the NestJS modular monolith, especially for high-traffic scenarios and intensive SCM transactions.
API Integration Testing: Design and execute automated tests for API integrations between the core supply chain modules (e.g., testing the data contract integrity between WMS and OMS) and external payment services.
Test Data Management: Create and maintain reliable test data factories to simulate complex multi-tenant and domain-specific scenarios (e.g., various HS codes, tenant feature flags).
Regression Management: Continuously maintain and optimize the regression test suite to provide fast, reliable feedback to development teams operating within the Monorepo structure.
Required Technologies & Tools
Candidates must possess strong expertise in automated testing frameworks, CI/CD integration, and performance validation:
Automation Frameworks: Experience selecting, building, and maintaining E2E (e.g., Playwright, Cypress) and API testing frameworks.
Programming: Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for writing high-quality, maintainable test code.
Performance/Load: Experience with tools for performance and load testing (e.g., JMeter, K6).
CI/CD: Practical experience integrating tests into automated pipelines and working within a Monorepo environment.
Data & Database: Ability to query PostgreSQL 15 directly to validate data integrity.
You will be responsible for validating the behavior and accuracy of our AI systems.
Agent Behavior Testing: Develop tests to validate the deterministic and non-deterministic behaviors of AI agents, ensuring they accurately process inputs, access data securely, and perform their intended functions (e.g., workflow optimization, customer support responses).
Integration Validation: Verify the quality of data retrieval and the security of the API layers connecting AI agents (using LangChain/LlamaIndex) to the core WMS/OMS data.
Performance will be measured by:
Test Coverage: Measurable increase in automated functional and regression test coverage across critical application paths.
Defect Escape Rate: Reduction in the number of critical and high-severity defects escaping to production.
Pipeline Reliability: Maintenance of stable, non-flaky test runs within the CI/CD pipeline.
Mentorship Structure: Reports to the Technical Architect or Engineering Lead, working directly with development teams across the Catalog, OMS, and WMS modules.
