About the Position:

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk & Resilience, we are seeking a proactive and strategic AVP Business Continuity Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Business Continuity Management (BCM) program for our US Platform with Global input. This role ensures the organization is prepared to respond to and recover from disruptive events, safeguarding our operations, reputation, and policyholders. This role leads the BCP program for the US operations and contributes to the Global BCP program/framework. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in continuity planning, crisis management, and regulatory compliance within the insurance or financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership:
    Design, implement, and maintain the US Business Continuity and Crisis Management (BC/CM) Plans and contribute to the Global BCP/CM framework in alignment with industry standards and regulatory standards.

  • Risk Assessment & Impact Analysis:
    Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and risk assessments across business units and US offices to identify critical processes, dependencies, and recovery requirements.

  • Plan Development & Maintenance:
    Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to develop, test, and update continuity and recovery plans, ensuring alignment with operational risk and resilience strategies.

  • Testing & Exercises:
    Lead regular tabletop exercises, simulations, and recovery tests to validate plans and enhance organizational readiness.

  • Incident Response:
    Serve as a key member of the crisis management team, supporting real-time incident response and post-incident reviews.

  • Training & Awareness:
    Develop and deliver training programs to promote a culture of preparedness and ensure staff understand their roles in continuity plans.

  • Compliance & Reporting:
    Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC Model Laws, state insurance departments) and internal audit standards (including assisting collating with Health & Safety reporting). Prepare reports and metrics for senior leadership.

  • Vendor & Third-Party Risk:
    Assess and monitor third-party business continuity capabilities as part of the broader vendor risk management program.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Information Security, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

  • Certifications (preferred):
    CBCP, MBCP, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, or equivalent.

  • Experience:

    • 5–8 years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or operational resilience.

    • Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry strongly preferred.

    • Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and crisis response efforts.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of BCM frameworks, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex risks into actionable plans.

    • Familiarity with continuity planning tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Fusion, Archer, Castellan, or similar).

The fulltime base salary range for this position is $150k-$190k per year; base salary offered may vary based on job-related knowledge skills, and experience. The position is eligible for bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. This information is provided per the New York City Human Rights Law and applies to positions in New York City.
