Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks AVP, Developer in New York, New York (multiple positions available):

  • Develop and support the execution systems within electronic trading such as RFQ pricing, Index arb trading platform and market data distribution.

  • Utilize low-latency java coding standards to build high performant and low latency applications.

  • Ensure seamless connectivity b/w various systems and clients utilizing TCP/IP protocol.

  • Undertake projects as required, including, but not restricted to, the following areas: - capacity and performance management, monitoring initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, web-based tools, reporting and documentation.

  • Design and develop efficient and intuitive user interface for analytics.

  • Work in middleware technologies such as Kafka, Parquet, or Solace, time-series databases.

  • Perform due diligence in preparation of the electronic paperwork, link release in electronic control systems, & coordinate with run the bank teams carry our production support and problem resolution.

  • Improve the stability of prod/non-prod environments by close collaboration with Test and Support team.

  • Perform unit testing, conduct fat-finger checks, execute integrations tests to identify issues, fix them and continuously repeat the quality improvement process.

  • Visualize and design complex systems; good command over the relevant design patterns and concepts covering failover and resiliency.

  • Improve the quality of systems and service, and increase business value.

  • Take ownership of issues through resolution or escalation, as appropriate.

  •  May telecommute pursuant to company policies. [Hybrid role]

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $155,000 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $175,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.
