Hours Per Week: Varies, availability to work after 4 pm for group sessions
FLSA Status: Consultant, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $40.00/ hour for administrative tasks $135- 150/hour per group session


Summary of Duties: The Bilingual Clinician will work in our Adult Sex Offender (ASO) Program, delivering sex offender-specific behavioral health services to individuals who are on probation. The clinician is responsible for the provision of direct client services through the facilitation of weekly groups and coordination with other agencies serving the clients, including probation and polygraphy.  The clinician in the ASO Program will demonstrate expertise in providing trauma-informed care, utilizing evidence-based approaches specific to sex offending behavior. The Clinician must possess the ability to engage and affect change through a person-centered model. The Clinician will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit. 


Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally sensitive direct, clinical services, which may include but are not limited to: sex-offender-specific assessment and treatment planning, and group psychotherapy.
  • Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures. 
  • Integrate findings of psychosexual evaluations into treatment.  
  • Conduct case conferences with probationers and the probation department.
  • Identify case management needs of clients and coordinate with other agency staff and community agencies to have these needs met. 
  • Collaborate with Probation and polygrapher.
  • Prepare status reports and documentation for the court.
  • Perform crisis intervention as necessary. 
  • Participate in program development and in training programs. 
  • Follow the established clinic policies & procedures. 
  • Maintain appropriate professional standards. 
  • Other designated or related duties.

Competencies: 

  • Fluency in conversational and written Spanish.
  • Principles, practices, and methods of community mental health treatment including interviewing, assessment, group counseling, and crisis intervention. 
  • Applicable city, state, and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment, services, and reporting procedures. 
  • Principles of psychological growth, development, and psychopathology. 
  • Knowledge of community mental health resources.
  • Understanding the impact of culture on mental health practices. 
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of group psychotherapy, with specific awareness of sex offense-specific issues.
  • Knowledge of various theoretical and treatment models pertaining to sex-offending behavior, including but not limited to CBT, the Good Lives Model, and Risk/Need/Responsivity Model.
  • Understanding the need to incorporate polygraph results into treatment
  • Ability to facilitate the chaperone/safeguard process. 
  • Knowledge of risk assessment measures and dynamic risk factors.
  • Understanding of the results/findings of psychosexual evaluations, how to address the findings with the probationers, and how to integrate results and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of behavioral techniques which assist with modifying probationers’ behaviors related to sex offending.
  •  Understanding of trauma-informed care.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 

  • Evaluate the thoroughness and accuracy of progress notes and court reports.
  • Monitor participation and completion of professional development and training programs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of client progress and court report submissions, measured by adherence to established procedures.
  • Collect and analyze client feedback to gauge satisfaction with the services provided.
  • Monitor compliance with city, state, and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment services.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in conversational and written English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • The Clinician must be, in active status, a New York State LCSW, LMSW, LMHC or Ph.D. Psychologist with sex offender expertise. 
  • The Clinician must be reliable and able to work independently and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to document in an electronic health record is required.
  • Greater Mental Health does not provide malpractice insurance coverage for consultants. Consultants must obtain their own insurance and name the agency as an additional insured party.
  • Must maintain pre-employment clearances by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
  • The Clinician must be legally eligible to work in the United States.   


Special Considerations

  • Hours per week, reporting structure, and location are subject to change per program needs.

 


Mandated Reporter:

This is a Mandated Reporter position.  The NYS Justice Center legislation defines anyone who has regular and substantial contact with any person with special needs as a “custodian” under the law and, therefore, a mandated reporter.  You can be held liable by both the civil and criminal legal systems for intentionally failing to make a report.
