Brilla Schools, a growing K-8 network in the Bronx, serves over 2,000 students with plans to expand to educate 3,000 across four elementary and four middle schools. Position Overview
The Brilla Schools Operations Manager, managed by the Director of Network Operations, will be a strategic and execution-focused leader responsible for driving operational excellence across Brilla Network. This role ensures that systems, processes, and services are effectively designed, implemented, and managed at a central (network-wide) level, supporting consistency, efficiency, and high-quality execution across the Network.

Network-Wide Operations & Systems Management

  • Design, implement, and manage centralized systems for:
    • Procurement and vendor management
    • Inventory and asset tracking
    • Records management and data systems
    • Operational compliance and reporting
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of operational practices across the Network
  • Develop scalable systems to support network growth and multi-site operations

Procurement, Vendors, and Facilities

  • Lead network-wide procurement strategy, including purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Manage vendor relationships across all campuses (e.g., transportation, food services, facilities, security, IT)
  • Oversee facilities operations at a network level, including maintenance, safety compliance, space planning, and capital projects
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness, service quality, and contract compliance across all vendors

Compliance, Risk, and Data Management

  • Ensure all Network meet federal, state, and local compliance requirements (e.g., FERPA, OSHA, health and safety regulations)
  • Oversee network-wide data systems to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Analyze operational data to inform decision-making
  • Ensure network-wide compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FERPA, health and safety).

Family Resource Support & Operations Team Support

  • Provide direct support and guidance to Director of Family & Community engagement to ensure strong execution of daily operations
  • Coordinate network-wide logistics for major events (e.g., open houses, parent conferences, school-wide initiatives)

Emergency Preparedness & Safety

  • Lead network-wide emergency preparedness planning (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures, crisis response protocols)
  • Ensure the Network staff are trained, compliant, and prepared for emergencies

Technology & Systems Support

  • Oversee network-level IT coordination in partnership with external vendors
  • Manage technology systems including device inventory, troubleshooting workflows, and support ticket systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a key liaison between the Network Office and school-based teams
  • Collaborate with departments including Academics, Finance, People, and Student Services to ensure cohesive operations
  • Align operational initiatives with instructional and organizational priorities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and coach network coordinator and vendors 
  • Build capacity across campuses through training, systems implementation, and performance management
  • Lead professional development for operations staff to strengthen execution and leadership

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Lead network-level operational planning, including Network startup, annual planning, and long-term strategy
  • Drive continuous improvement through system refinement and innovation
  • Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in school operations, project management, or a related field, preferably in a network-level or multi-site capacity.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
  • High level of adaptability, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to leverage data to drive operational decisions, identify trends, and implement strategic improvements to enhance overall effectiveness and compliance across the network.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and willing to perform other duties as assigned
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
