Dow Jones' premium platform WSJ Pro is seeking a bureau chief to manage coverage of financial distress, debt restructuring and corporate bankruptcy. In this role, you will lead a team of reporters producing market-moving scoops, data-centered analysis and insightful features for WSJ Pro Bankruptcy, serving its professional readership as well as the Wall Street Journal's general audience.
This job calls for an enterprising player-coach to drive coverage at the highest levels of law and finance on corporate upheavals, legal battles and survival stories among troubled companies ranging from energy and retail to pharma and crypto.
A strong background in restructuring and bankruptcy is preferred, as well as a solid knowledge of corporate finance and business generally. This role requires a detail-oriented editor to manage a team of reporters to uncover when companies' futures turn sour. Along with excellent news coverage that adheres to the highest ethical standards, newsletters and live journalism are growth areas for Pro, and you will be part of shaping our approach and execution in these areas. The job is based in New York.
You Will:- Manage editorial content and strategy, driving coverage priorities and supervising Pro Bankruptcy's team of reporters
- Drive proprietary stories on corporate restructuring, distressed-debt investing and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases
- Vet scoops on tight deadlines, editing coverage that is both sophisticated and accessible
- Originate smart analysis on the news and trends shaping the restructuring market
- Coordinate and collaborate with other Pro editors and reporters on subjects like private credit, private equity and venture capital as needed
- Spearhead production of Pro Bankruptcy's flagship daily newsletter
- At least 5 years of editing/management experience
- Demonstrated news judgment and a detail-oriented mindset
- The ability to write content that is both sophisticated and accessible
