Downtown Artist & Label Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Affairs Associate. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Business Affairs to review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including digital distribution, master use/content licenses, and related amendments and addenda. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects with minimal oversight.

This hybrid position can be located in our Los Angeles, or New York office. We are also open to remote candidates based in Portland.

What you'll do: 
  • Work alongside the Senior Director of Business Affairs to review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements, such as digital distribution, master use/content licenses, confidentiality agreements and related amendments and addenda
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and incorporate them into contractual terms
  • Provide research support as well as support for general legal and operational initiatives, including internal documentation and compliance projects
  • Review and summarize contracts
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date electronic filing system and input agreement terms into a digital database
  • Manage claims and disputes in collaboration with the Senior Director of Business Affairs and cross-company legal teams
  • Assist with the development, updating, and maintenance of standard form agreements
  • Liaise and work closely with cross-company legal teams and outside counsel
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Business Affairs and other departments to ensure business needs are met
You are / have: 
  • 2-3 years of experience in a business and legal affairs environment, ideally in the music, and/or entertainment industries, as well as experience providing administrative support
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Prior contract analysis experience
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team in a dynamic, creative environment
  • Highly proficient typing and computer skills, including in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; extremely detail-oriented
  • Exhibits a professional demeanor and sound judgment
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, is resourceful, and takes ownership of tasks and projects
  • Ability to follow up on delegated assignments through completion
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks efficiently across different time zones
  • Bilingual - Spanish speaking a plus!

Downtown provides base salary ranges for all positions located in the United States at the time of posting. The hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon various factors including, but not limited to, work experience, geographic location and relevant skills. Downtown is committed to providing a comprehensive market-competitive total rewards program for its employees which includes medical, dental, and vision, life insurance, 401(k) match and generous paid time off. This range does not include any other variable compensation components.
