The Monad Foundation is a team of dedicated ecosystem and community builders who are on a mission to massively grow the impact of decentralized tech. We believe that the Monad blockchain--the performant and parallel EVM Layer 1--will help decentralized apps eat the world.

The Role

We’re looking for a Director of Business Development | Financial Institutions to build out the Financial Institutions vertical for the Monad Foundation. This is an entrepreneurial, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives on building from zero, identifying opportunities, forming partnerships, and creating momentum around real financial usage on the blockchain.

This is a dual-mandate role. On one side, you will own Monad's financial institution relationships — building the pipeline, advisor network, and institutional narrative that positions Monad as the chain of choice when banks, exchanges, and market infrastructure providers evaluate where to build on-chain. On the other hand, you will own the operational backbone of Monad's institutional communications function — keeping stakeholders informed, tracking ecosystem and token health, and ensuring this function runs with consistency and quality.

What You Will DoFinancial Institutions – BD & Advisory
  • Build and manage a structured pipeline of target financial institutions — banks, exchanges, clearing houses, asset managers, and market infrastructure providers (e.g CME, ICE/NYSE, DTCC, Nasdaq etc) — tracking each organization across stages of engagement: awareness, evaluation, pilot, and committed.

  • Develop deep, trust-based relationships with senior decision-makers at major financial institutions, with a focus on the individuals and teams responsible for blockchain strategy, digital assets, and infrastructure decisions.

  • Cultivate internal champions within each target institution, recognizing that institutional decisions involve multiple stakeholders and that durable progress requires building a coalition, not relying on a single relationship.

  • Develop and execute an advisor and influencer strategy — identifying and engaging the consulting firms, advisors, and intermediaries that shape how financial institutions think about chain selection. These relationships often have more bearing on institutional decisions than direct BD efforts alone.

  • Maintain a real-time, working view of which institutions are evaluating competing chains and infrastructure, and the underlying drivers of those evaluations. Develop a sharp, insightful positioning for why Monad is the better fit for specific institutional use cases.

  • Build Monad's presence in the forums, working groups, and industry bodies where institutional blockchain strategy is formed.

  • Develop and maintain Monad's institutional narrative — a clear, compelling, and technically credible articulation of why Monad is the right infrastructure partner for financial institutions building on-chain.

MON Ecosystem & Institutional Communications
  • Own the operational cadence of institutional communications: drafting regular ecosystem updates, preparing materials for calls and meetings, and maintaining a consistent outreach rhythm with current and prospective institutional stakeholders.

  • Monitor sentiment across institutional channels, identifying shifts in perception early and surfacing them internally with context and recommended responses.

  • Support the development and refinement of Monad's institutional narrative, ensuring stakeholders have a clear and differentiated understanding of what Monad is building and why it matters.

  • Manage the logistics and follow-through of institutional relationships — ensuring no current stakeholder or warm prospect goes dark due to operational gaps.

Who You AreBackground
  • 6-10 years of experience in one or more of the following: financial institution partnerships, institutional BD, management consulting with a financial services focus, or a crypto infrastructure company where you have seen the pipeline of institutions looking to build on the blockchain.

  • Direct exposure to how large financial institutions evaluate, procure, and adopt new technology infrastructure — you understand the internal dynamics, stakeholders, and timelines involved.

  • Existing relationships within financial institutions, consulting firms, or the broader institutional crypto ecosystem that give you a running start.

Skills
  • Exceptional written communication — investor updates, institutional materials, and narrative documents you produce should be clear, precise, and credible without requiring heavy editing.

  • Familiarity with token markets and institutional investor behavior — you understand how institutional allocators think about digital assets, what drives conviction, and what erodes it.

  • Comfortable managing multiple workstreams with different audiences and timelines simultaneously, without dropping quality on either.

  • Analytically sharp enough to track competitive dynamics across chains and synthesize institutional feedback into actionable intelligence.

Why Work with Us
  • Challenging problems. You’ll tackle deeply complex and technically demanding problems, with autonomy and impact.

  • Endless Opportunity for Impact. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard is ubiquitous, but existing EVM-compatible chains are slow and bandwidth-constrained. Monad’s core innovations offer developers and founders the best of both worlds (portability and performance) and are a game-changer to power global on-chain finance.

  • The right team. You’ll be part of a world class team, who are exceptional and highly-motivated.

  • Culture. We’re a lean team working together to achieve very ambitious goals. We are united in our culture of collaboration, low ego, and high-quality output.

  • Strong Ecosystem. The broader Monad ecosystem has attracted support from leading investors, builders and long-term contributors.
