About the Role

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be at the forefront of Ghost’s growth; identifying and engaging new leads, building a high-quality pipeline of buyers and sellers, and converting them into long-term customers. You’ll introduce clients to our private marketplace and innovative product suite, build trust in Ghost as the go-to B2B distribution solution, and drive revenue through strategic relationship management. Your work will directly shape the future of our business.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Identify and develop new leads through market research, targeted outreach, and strategic engagement.
  • Qualify prospects via calls, meetings, and industry events (conferences, forums, dinners, etc.).
  • Convert buyers and sellers into active customers and grow accounts into recurring partnerships.
  • Manage smooth hand-offs to Account Managers to sustain and expand relationships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align go-to-market activities and maintain consistent communication with stakeholders.
  • Stay active in the market, gathering actionable feedback to improve BD strategies and platform performance.
  • Maintain and optimize tracking systems for lead generation, pipeline growth, and account management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years in business development or outside sales (brand wholesale or retail buying experience a plus).
  • Proven success in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Strong proficiency in MS PowerPoint (presentation building), MS Excel (financial modeling and analysis)
  • Proficiency in presentation building using Canva, Figma and/or MS PowerPoint
  • Strong tech proficiency and ability to adopt new tools quickly.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; CRM proficiency (e.g., HubSpot).
  • Self-motivated, client-focused, and collaborative.
  • Skilled at articulating value propositions, building rapport, and conducting customer/market research.
  • Committed to operational excellence with a track record of high-velocity execution.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for in-person client engagement.

Our target base compensation for this position can range from $110,000.00 - $140,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in our incentive commission plan. The actual amounts may vary based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the position.
