As a Business Intelligence Analyst at IAS, you will be part of a team that is a center of innovation for the company and a major contributor to the company's core products. You will evaluate web content (text, images, videos) for the presence of brand unsafe and contextual concepts. You will assist in classification creation and evaluation. You will be a critical player in ensuring the quality of the products we build are consistent with our industry leading standards.
What you’ll get to do:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of the content of webpages, videos, mobile applications with respect to given categories of media quality and/or media risk; in essence assist in profiling content. e.g. “fake news”, violent content, extremist content.
- Work with editorial tools to classify web pages, mobile apps and social media content into content categories (media risk or subject categories like “Sports” or “Finance”).
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers and project managers during the software development cycle, to create and maintain the natural language processing engines and image/video classification technology.
- Understand and provide feedback on editorial guidelines for media quality rating, in the broader context of media governance and business goals.
- Make and correct editorial judgments based on business needs.
- Stay abreast of current issues in advertising technology, specifically in the area of media quality and media risk.
- Have a lot of fun with the two fundamental problems of natural language processing: ambiguity and linguistic variation.
- Use sentimental/contextual analytical skills to ensure neutral arbitration with content verification and annotation/classification
- The future scope of career progression for this position is to be a subject matter expert in the Brand Safety and Verification domain.
You should apply if you have most of of this experience:
- Educational background in media studies, journalism, social sciences, linguistics, philosophy, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity and interest in cutting-edge issues in advertising technology.
- Prior experiences with Excel or similar analytic software, knowledge of SQL and database systems is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with specialized programs such as annotation software or search applications.
- Experience in working with taxonomies or ontologies is a big plus but not required.
- Ability to learn quickly new systems and technologies with guidance.
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines under minimum supervision.
- Experience working in an agile environment, following priorities and business processes.
- Great communication and presentation skills, team-oriented.
- Prior experience in working with editorial or data analytics teams is a big plus.
- Fluent English; knowledge of any additional language is a plus.
New York Applicants: The salary range for this position is $69,300 - $118,800. Actual pay may vary based on experience or geographic location.
