Disney Entertainment Television's Research, Analytics & Insights is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Measurement & Analytics Platform Operations organization. The primary role is to develop storytelling insights through dashboarding that is focused on serving our greater Research, Analytics & Insights teams to enable them to move the business forward utilizing quick data insights. The Business Intelligence Engineer is also expected to assist in gathering business requirements, deep dive into new and existing data sets, and create insightful dashboards that will equip the organization with information quickly at their fingertips. The ideal candidate will have some experience in working with data engineering & research teams, developing business insights using BI tools (such as Tableau, Looker, or MicroStrategy), and have a foundational understanding of working with large structured & unstructured datasets (through SQL or Python coding).
Responsibilities:

  • Support client relationship across one or more projects, through a solid understanding of the business, providing day to day consulting, and collaborating with leadership to communicate with partners
  • Work in SQLPython to perform data preparation and explanatory modeling
  • Design and deliver impactful business dashboards that are focused on telling the data story in a clear, concise way
  • Participate in data engineering and data science/BI sprint ceremonies
  • Build trust and partnerships across internal and external teams and functions with the understanding the importance of change management
  • Continuously drive toward efficiency by simplifying and automating where possible, eliminating redundancy across the organization, refining data structures, and building data views as needed to support higher team productivity.
  • Assure quality and accuracy of deliverables through thorough interaction with business partners and data engineers to understand and refine requirements and adherence to privacy, governance, and quantitative standards.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Data Mining, Analytics, or other quantitative field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience and proficiency in Python, SQL (or similar programming languages) and data visualization (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with product or project management, including documenting business processes, determining functional requirements, and turning them into technical specifications
  • Ability to effectively communicate and translate the languages of analytics and business applications
  • Ability to collaborate across both highly technical and non-technical teams to complete objectives
  • Familiarity with functional dashboard and creative data visualization designs
  • Experience in documentation of code and data assets including metadata through infobase tools such as Confluence
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to rapidly changing business environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of basic database structure


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience directly supporting data science team data and technical needs.
  • 1-2 years of experience in product management role
  • Experience with the media industry, especially television and streaming
  • Familiarity with Nielsen, LiveRamp, comScore or other video measurement solutions
  • Strong understanding of advanced analytical methods
  • Proficiency in automating existing processes


The hiring range for this remote position is $81,200 to $125,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
