Hybrid 2: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Business Strategy & Planning Director (Chief of Staff to the President Carelon Pharmacy) serves as a key member of the Carelon Chief of Staff team, partnering closely with senior Carelon leadership to drive strategic clarity, operating discipline, and execution against the organization’s highest priorities.

 

How You Will Make an Impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Understands all aspects of the business and partners with executive leadership, including direct support of the President CarelonRx Pharmacy to define strategy and successful criteria for the future.

  • Monitors and synthesizes business performance, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities for leadership.

  • Translates strategy into defined tactics, programs/projects priorities, and timelines and ensures alignment and attainment of enterprises strategic plans to turn strategy into reality.

  • Supports leadership operating cadence (e.g. key meetings, decision forums) and helps ensure follow-through on priorities and commitments.

  • Documents strategic priorities such as external environment and reports on customer insight research initiatives.

  • Builds and leverages relationships across the organization to help solve complex business problems and drive cross-functional alignment.

  • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on continuous needs assessment and evolving business priorities.

  • Responsible for the development implementation and monitoring of line of business planning and project activities.

  • Develops executive-level materials, insights, and communications to support leadership decision making.

  • Travels to worksite and other locations as necessary.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience including prior leadership experience and 3 years of strategic planning; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, & Experiences:

 

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience in strategy, consulting, or business planning preferred.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience preferred.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills highly preferred.

  • Data analysis capabilities preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $137,920.00 to $248,256.00 annually.

  

Locations: Illinois; New Jersey; New York; & Virginia.
