The ideal candidate brings strong strategic thinking, organizational skills, deep knowledge of political and community landscapes, and proven experience in managing campaigns and/or advocacy initiatives. You thrive in fast-moving environments, balance long-term strategy with rapid response, and keep partners aligned and informed every step of the way.

Responsibilities
  • Campaign Oversight: Oversee the implementation of short-term and long-term strategic recommendations. Ensure successful cohesive, disciplined campaign execution.

  • Campaign Strategy Development: Design and implement advocacy and public affairs campaigns that build durable support for advanced and renewable energy, tailored to the unique local and state political, cultural, and economic contexts.

  • Client and Partner Collaboration: Work closely with developer clients and/or philanthropic and non-profit partners to define goals, recommend tactics, shape strategy, and ensure alignment between partner objectives and campaign execution.

  • Internal Coordination: Collaborate with Bantam colleagues and partner organizations to implement advocacy plans, including political strategy, message development, paid and earned media, and grassroots mobilization.

  • Coalition & Stakeholder Engagement: Understand how to build and strengthen coalitions, engage key stakeholders, and foster relationships that expand the base of support for renewable energy initiatives.

  • Political Landscape Understanding: Demonstrate a deep understanding of state and local political landscapes, employing this knowledge to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Measurement & Reporting: Track campaign progress, evaluate impact, and provide partners with timely, actionable reports and recommendations.

  • Message Development & Communications: Shape compelling narratives and campaign messaging that resonate with diverse audiences and effectively convey the benefits of renewable energy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5–8+ years leading advocacy, public affairs, political, or issue-based campaigns — ideally at the state or local level — within an agency, consulting firm, nonprofit, or campaign environment.

  • Demonstrated success owning client or partner relationships, including regular direct engagement, strategic advising, and ensuring alignment between partner objectives and campaign execution.

  • Experience designing and managing multi-channel campaigns that integrate policy context, messaging, grassroots mobilization, earned media, and/or paid media.

  • Strong ability and awareness of the nuances needed to navigate and influence local and state political landscapes, with a clear understanding of federal, state, and local public opinion drivers, and stakeholder dynamics.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — able to craft compelling briefs, talking points, and messaging for different audiences, including elected officials, community stakeholders, and media.

  • Advanced project management skills — scoping, budgeting, timelines, deliverables, and reporting — with a track record of delivering campaigns on time and within scope.

  • Comfort working in a fully remote, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns and priorities.

  • Some travel required up to 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications
  • Subject-matter familiarity with renewable energy, advanced energy policy, or understanding of federal, state, and local infrastructure permitting processes, particularly in the utility-scale development context.

  • Familiarity with digital advocacy tools (CRM platforms, email/SMS mobilization, social media advocacy, and analytics) and a data-informed approach to testing and optimization.

  • Experience supporting philanthropic or nonprofit partners, aligning mission-driven goals with disciplined, results-oriented campaign execution.

  • Knowledge of earned media strategy and/or experience coordinating with media consultants and agencies.

  • Experience working on ballot initiatives or multi-state advocacy campaigns, especially in politically diverse environments.

  • Proficiency with advocacy CRMs, mobilization platforms, and campaign analytics (e.g., VAN, i360, EveryAction, Mobilize, NationBuilder).
