Position Summary: The Claims Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, oversight, and management of the Captive Claims Department, ensuring consistent and effective claims advocacy and service delivery across the Captive portfolio. This position provides leadership and guidance to the claims team, participates in claim reviews, and oversees complex and high-exposure property and casualty claims. The Claims Director works closely with clients, carriers, third-party administrators, defense counsel, and other claims professionals to promote effective claims strategies, appropriate reserve management, and timely resolution. The position also monitors carrier and TPA performance, identifies claims trends and areas of concern, and escalates significant claims or service issues as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervisory responsibilities for 8-10 team members

Essential Tasks:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of innovative claims resolution processes
  • Continually search for process improvements and/or enhancements to workflow; make recommendations for change where appropriate
  • Create and manage some key metrics to improve claims processing
  • Assist clients with disputed claims resolutions, if escalation is desired/required
  • Identify areas on processes to eliminate potential E&O claims
  • Coordination of claims management process to improve customer satisfaction
  • Provide education of the claims process to the agency and client personnel
  • Review reporting process in Applied EPIC claims system by claims advocates
  • Manage notification process of new claim information
  • Respond to client and company requests for action and information on any claim-related matter
  • Complete monthly audits of a sampling of Advocate claim files to ensure established performance metrics and claim handling standards are being met, including review of applicable administrative activities.
  • Participate in establishing Wildly Important Goals that fall outside of the regular “day job” and into process improvement or large scale project completion

Experience and Education:

  • High School diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in property and casualty claims in a commercial insurance environment and experience in claims management processes

Licensing and Credentials:

  • Active General Lines or Property & Casualty License required

Systems:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptable

Location:

  • This role will be based out of our Bossier City, LA office and can be either an in office, hybrid, or fully remote role. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent overnight travel required, some trips will be outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
  • Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
  • Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-key
  • Walking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directions
