The Chief of Staff will serve as the CEO’s strategic partner and operational right hand. In this highly cross-functional role, you’ll be responsible for keeping the executive leadership team aligned, ensuring critical initiatives move forward efficiently, and driving execution on the company’s top priorities. You’ll blend strategic thinking, operational rigor, and strong influencing skills, with exposure to all parts of the business. As Skillz continues to scale, the complexity of decision-making and cross-functional collaboration is increasing, and this role will be critical to keeping the executive team focused, aligned, and operating at a high velocity.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO to drive OKRs and business planning, providing data-driven insights to support strategic decisions and ensure cross-functional alignment.

• Lead high-impact initiatives on behalf of the CEO, streamlining workflows, removing bottlenecks, and building scalable processes to improve execution speed and quality.

• Act as a strategic extension of the CEO by developing executive materials, driving internal communication, and representing the CEO in key meetings when needed.

• Provide strategic leverage to the CEO by managing their core team, supporting executive alignment, and leading business analysis around acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships.

Key Competencies

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to use data and research to support sound decision-making.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly assess competing priorities, identify what matters most, and surface the most critical insights or actions for executive decision-making.

• Highly collaborative, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to lead through influence rather than authority.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with project management and operational tools is a plus.

• Comfortable building decision frameworks and financial models to support investment, partnership, and strategic decisions.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic goals with near-term execution, consistently delivering measurable outcomes.

Experience 

• 5+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or a hedge fund, ideally with a focus on the TMT (technology, media, telecom) sector.

• Direct experience analyzing investment opportunities involving complex project management and building multi-layered decision and financial models.

• Hands-on experience managing operations, projects, or workflows with clear business impact.

• A track record of driving process improvements that reduced costs, increased efficiency, or improved delivery.

• Proven ability to perform in high-pressure environments requiring discretion, confidentiality, and fast, thoughtful problem-solving.

Total Starting Compensation including Base + Bonus + Equity:  $247,200
