THE OPPORTUNITY

The Chief of Staff (COS) reports to the Executive Vice President & Global Head, Private Equity (EVP) and will serve as a key advisor and operational leader, working closely with the EVP and the senior leadership team to execute the program’s overall investment strategy and related strategic initiatives, create alignment and ensure the delivery of organizational objectives. This position will require exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and the ability to act as a trusted advisor and confidant to the EVP. 

 

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH  

The Private Equity department manages a diverse portfolio of approximately $28 billion in global private equity investments comprising of fund, direct, and co-investments. The portfolio is projected to continue growing over the coming years, with an increased emphasis on direct and co-investment strategies. Our department currently consists of 65+ professionals spanning offices located in Victoria and New York City, organized into five sub-teams: Direct Investments, Fund Investments, Venture & Growth, Reporting & Analytics, and Operations. Our Direct Investments team can be further broken down into six sector-focused teams that cover the Business Services, Consumer, Financial Services, Healthcare, Industrials, and Technology, Media & Communications sectors. 

 

WHAT YOU BRING  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred 

  • 10+ years of experience in a strategic or operational role, preferably within private equity, investment banking, or management consulting 

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and initiatives 

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization 

  • High level of discretion and professionalism in dealing with confidential information 

  • Execution-focused, results-oriented and proactive, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Adaptable and flexible, and able to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities 

  • High level of emotional intelligence and diplomacy, with the ability to gain trust of team members 

 

WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO   

Strategic Support  

  • Collaborates with the EVP to execute the BCI PE strategy and defines and executes supporting organizational objectives and drives the overall PE governance framework 

  • Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations/speaking engagements, and materials for board meetings, senior leadership meetings and other key stakeholder communications 

  • Prepares briefing materials and synthesizes information for the EVP on relevant industry trends and developments 

  • Assists in review of investment opportunities and strategic partnerships at the program level 

  • Conducts market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making 

  • Attends key stakeholder meetings with the EVP, with accountability for follow-up support 

  • Assists the EVP in the review and synthesis of investment opportunities, committee materials and strategic partnerships  

  • Assists the EVP in the review of investment committee materials by synthesizing relevant perspectives and insights 

 

Operational Delivery  

  • Leads and manages key strategic initiatives and projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with objectives 

  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project progress and outcomes 

  • Ensures smooth running of Executive Committee meetings, including agenda creation, minute taking and action tracking 

 

Operational Efficiency & Effectiveness  

  • Vets’ requests for meetings and interactions to maximize the EVP’s time spent on high value interactions 

  • Proactively plans travel and interactions with key external relationships as part of a structured program 

  • Prioritizes internal activity with team members across the regions 

  • Act as an ‘air traffic controller’ directing requests, anticipating and heading off challenges, spotting interdependencies, integrating initiatives across the team and sharing information as appropriate with stakeholders 

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the organization and implements best practices to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness 

  • Oversees the administration of the executive office, working with the Executive Assistant to coordinate schedules, meetings, and events 

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between the EVP and internal teams, external partners, and other stakeholders to foster effective communication and collaboration 

  • Supports relationship management with BCI EMT, clients, portfolio companies, and partners 

WHERE YOU WILL WORK 

Work from our office in Manhattan. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week. 

 

SALARY RANGE 

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a 401k, and paid time off. 

The annualized base salary range for this New York, NY based role is USD $210,000 - $275,000. 

The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity. 

We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
