Who we are

Sapien is the engine behind the world’s most important companies. We build agents that learn how a business works from its financial and operational data: its language, operations, and economics. That understanding helps people find opportunities, make better decisions, and act.

We work with complex businesses, from manufacturers and restaurant groups to the Fortune 500. Teams at companies including Bayer, Cooper Standard, Blink Charging, Carlex, and Odeko use Sapien to understand their businesses and improve how they run. Our ambition is to build the self-optimizing company by making its people and systems dramatically more capable.

We’re headquartered by Madison Square Park in NYC, with $15M+ raised and backing from General Catalyst, Neo, and operators from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Ramp, and Stripe. We’re bringing together AI researchers, engineers, and operators to build intelligence for the people who build everything else.

About the Role
Sapien is moving fast. The Chief of Staff exists to make sure the company moves with intention, not just speed. You'll sit directly with the founders, own the operational layer that keeps everything running, and drive the cross-functional work that doesn't fit neatly into any one function.
This is a high-trust, high-leverage role. You'll have visibility into everything and ownership of things that matter: strategic planning, investor relations, hiring, internal communications, and the GTM systems that drive revenue. If you've thrived in high-output environments and gravitate toward the work that others can't quite categorize -- this is for you.
What You'll Own
Founder & Leadership Leverage

  • Extend the capacity of the CEO and leadership team -- own their context, manage their priorities, and make sure the right decisions happen at the right time

  • Lead preparation for board meetings, investor updates, and key internal reviews

  • Manage high-priority cross-functional projects from framing to execution

GTM & Revenue Operations

  • Own the operational layer behind sales and CS: pipeline hygiene, CRM discipline, outbound coordination, and performance reporting

  • Build and maintain dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into revenue, deployment health, and operational KPIs

  • Support customer-facing work where needed -- able to hold a conversation with a CFO and represent Sapien credibly

Strategy & Company Operations

  • Turn ambiguous priorities into structured plans with clear owners and timelines

  • Identify operational gaps across the business, design the fix, and leave behind a repeatable process

  • Support recruiting and team scaling as headcount grows

What We're Looking For

  • 4-7 years in investment banking, PE, management consulting, or a senior operator role at a high-growth startup

  • Finance fluency -- comfortable with P&Ls, operating metrics, and corporate finance concepts

  • Proven builder of systems and processes, not just deliverables

  • Sharp written communicator -- crisp across exec briefs, investor updates, and internal memos

  • AI-native -- you use AI tools daily, pick up new systems fast, and actively look for leverage

  • High agency, low ego -- you figure out what needs to happen and go do it

How You Work

  • Ambiguity-shaping. You turn nebulous problems into a first pass and drive to resolution

  • Extreme ownership. If you say it, it gets done

  • Speed & hustle. Urgency without sacrificing quality

  • AI-native. Energized by applying AI to transform how businesses run
