Who We Are
We have the majority of the solutions we need to solve the climate crisis — they’re just not being adopted quickly enough. The Clean Fight is a not-for-profit dedicated to accelerating the adoption of proven climate solutions in New York State and beyond. We design and run targeted programs that bring some of the best climate tech companies from around the world together with customers, ecosystem partners, and capital providers to test out clear pathways for adoption and unlock decarbonization at scale, with a core focus on decarbonizing the built environment. www.thecleanfight.com
Underpinning our work is a focus on facilitating the adoption of solutions that will disproportionately impact frontline and underserved communities, and ensuring that the energy transition is just and equitable.
We are supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), a public benefit corporation advancing clean, resilient, and affordable energy solutions for New Yorkers, the U.S. Department of Commerce, along with philanthropic funding. We were founded in 2020 with incubation support from New Energy Nexus, an international non-profit organization that strives to achieve a 100% clean energy economy for 100% of the population in the shortest time possible by supporting diverse clean energy entrepreneurs with funds, accelerators, and networks.
About the Role
At The Clean Fight, our ability to identify, support, and scale high-impact climate technologies depends on the strength of our underlying data systems. As the Database and CRM Intern, you will directly strengthen the data systems that determine how we identify, support, and scale climate solutions—enabling smarter decisions, stronger partnerships, and faster real-world impact.

This internship will provide exposure to the climate-tech ecosystem, hands-on experience, cross-functional collaboration, and high-quality mentorship. The impact of this work will be higher-quality, more actionable data that enables better decisions, stronger partnerships, and more effective scaling of climate solutions.
The candidate will be the driver on a significant data cleanup and standardization project; help implement and apply standardized taxonomies; and prepare our data systems for future integrations and automation. This is a mission-driven role for someone who enjoys organizing complex information, improving workflows, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, comfort with databases/CRMs (particularly HubSpot and Airtable), and solid project management skills are essential; familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with leaders from the Operations, Programs, Partnerships, and Marketing teams, the intern will:
- Organize a structured data cleanup and integrity project
- Identify, merge, and resolve duplicate company and contact records
- Improve basic data hygiene (naming, ownership, required fields)
- Review and improve taxonomy design, including tagging and list structures, to better support marketing, events, and recruitment workflows
- Apply standardized categories (e.g., partner sectors, solution types) across platforms
- Document and implement data standards and conventions (e.g., how companies, contacts, sectors, and solutions should be recorded)
- Partner with the Programs, Partnerships, and Marketing teams to understand their workflows and translate them into clear data requirements
- Prepare data configurations to support integrations and automations
- Where appropriate, use or suggest AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) to assist with data classification, deduplication strategies, and workflow automation design
- Create clear how‑to guides and documentation to enable maintenance of data integrity
- Support additional data or systems-related initiatives as time permits
By the end of the internship, you will have:
- Cleaned and standardized core CRM datasets
- Implemented consistent tagging and taxonomy structures
- Delivered documentation and processes for ongoing data integrity
- Helped prepare systems for future integrations and automation
- Presented project to staff and leadership
