The Wealth Management (WM) Chief Data Office (CDO) sits within the WM Risk organization and manages cyber, fraud, and data-related risks. WM CDO seeks a Vice President to support a global team with achieving its risk objectives and demonstrating its value add to Morgan Stanley.

This individual will manage a team that is responsible for engagement with clients and financial advisors on cybersecurity and fraud-related matters. They will also support WM’s Chief Data Officer with a wide variety of administrative and operational tasks. These tasks include managing the annual budgeting cycle, supporting resourcing/hiring needs, overseeing space management, and leading talent development, mentorship programs, and other special projects benefitting WM CDO.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Overseeing a team that coordinates engagements between WM CDO Subject Matter Experts with High Net Worth clients/prospects and financial advisors to support business development activities or assist with incident response
  • Managing administrative staff who support WM CDO Managing Directors with scheduling, travel, and expense management
  • Managing WM CDO’s overall non-comp budget (e.g., consulting, travel, training, etc.)  
  • Supporting hiring managers in their recruitment activities and providing leadership with transparency and insight into the hiring pipeline and key personnel data points
  • Ensuring new hires understand the WM CDO mission/vision and the role they will play in advancing it
  • Facilitating touchpoints, communications, and other initiatives that ensure WM CDO team members are driving toward shared objectives (e.g., Monthly All Hands Series, Quarterly New Joiners Series, Bi-Monthly Newsletter, annual goal setting, etc.)
  • Working with SMEs and content producers to maintain and disseminate educational and marketing materials to help clients/prospects and advisors reduce their data security and/or fraud risk
  • Maintaining team-related documentation, such as organizational charts, onboarding curriculum, job descriptions, etc.
  • Driving WM CDO’s mentorship program to help team members grow their network within CDO and achieve their career goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-12 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization  
  • A strong customer service orientation
  • Prior management experience
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills  
  • Ability to independently execute on multiple, simultaneous workstreams and exhibit strong attention to detail  
  • Expertise in office productivity software, data analysis, and collaboration tools 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior business development or client engagement responsibilities
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in wealth management, finance, operations, or technology

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
