Own end-to-end multi-cloud cost visibility, governance, and optimization across Azure, AWS, and GCP. Monitor daily costs and anomalies, perform root-cause analysis for cost incidents, reconcile provisioning with billing, maintain resilient cost data pipelines and reporting, drive refunds/credits, forecasting, and commitment-based savings and rightsizing in partnership with engineering, finance, and cloud providers.
This is a remote position.
Location: Currently remote, may transition to onsite in future
The Role
Own end-to-end cost visibility, governance, and optimization across our multi-cloud estate. You will be the single owner for what we spend, why, and what to do about it — across every tenant, account, and project. Weighted toward the platforms we use most: Azure (primary), AWS (significant), GCP (working depth)
Responsibilities
- Cost ownership: Own total spends across Azure, AWS, and GCP; maintain a single source of truth and classify every cost as expected, internal, or anomalous.
- Monitoring & anomaly detection: Run daily monitoring with threshold alerts per tenant, account, and workload using Azure Cost Management & Partner Center, AWS Cost Explorer / CUR / Budgets, and GCP billing export to BigQuery.
- Root cause analysis: Own cost incidents end to end — identify root cause, quantify impact, and drive the fix with engineering, finance, and the cloud providers.
- Platform-to-cloud integrity: Ensure provisioning and lifecycle automation reconcile cleanly with actual cloud billing state, closing gaps between platform actions and what the cloud bills.
- Data & reporting: Own the cost pipelines (Partner Center, AWS CUR, GCP BigQuery export, Power BI / SQL); ensure completeness and resilience to provider format changes.
- Refund & recovery: Identify refund/credit-eligible cases and drive them to closure with Microsoft, AWS, and Google.
- Forecasting & optimization: Forecast spend against deployments and usage; drive commitment-based savings (Azure Reservations, AWS Savings Plans/RIs, GCP CUDs), rightsizing, and budget discipline
Requirements
Deep knowledge, direct experience, and/or hands-on ownership of:
- Azure cost management at scale (primary): 5+ years owning Azure FinOps in a multi-tenant / CSP / EA / MCA context - Cost Management, Partner Center, subscription and resource-group billing, reservations, and usage/marketplace attribution.
- AWS cost governance: 3+ years hands-on with Cost Explorer, CUR, Organizations / consolidated billing, Budgets, Cost Anomaly Detection, and Savings Plans / RIs.
- GCP billing: working proficiency with billing export to BigQuery, budgets, and committed-use discounts — able to operate independently.
- Cost data & reporting: building (not just consuming) dashboards and pipelines in Power BI / SQL / BigQuery, kept resilient through schema changes.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, able to explain cost drivers and trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders.
This is a true hands-on ownership role. Please apply only if you are actively working with cloud billing and cost data today — we are looking for proven, demonstrable depth across Azure, AWS, and GCP, not familiarity alone.
