Cloud Engineer
About Your Role:
Dotdash Meredith serves trillions of web requests a month. The Digital Operations team makes sure that can happen quickly and reliably. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, it will be up to you to develop, monitor, and tune the platform necessary to keep some of the largest and most popular informational websites in the world running. The heart of the platform is powered by a multi-provider and multi-region Kubernetes environment and we are excited to continue to evolve.
Work with technology organization team members to address day-to-day support issues
Investigate and resolve issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
Provide thorough and readable documentation
Collaborate closely with other engineers to define innovative ways to improve services and reduce costs.
Participate with engineers on the team by performing thorough code reviews, pairing, and ad hoc reviews of proposed solutions.
Work with other teams across the organization to share and establish best practices.
About Your Contributions:
Work collaboratively with other team members across many different departments to deploy and support a vast array of open source solutions.
Work independently on initiatives aligned with team roadmaps.
Manage and tune cloud-hosted Linux clusters and applications, enhance security, and engineer monitoring solutions to ensure many 9's of uptime and lightning fast performance.
About You:
BS in Computer Science (or relevant experience/Github history)
Sharp and meticulous Unix admin with deep experience or passion for internet dev and web hosting
Familiarity with cloud provider - AWS (required), GCP (preferred)
Strong skills with container orchestrators such as Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
Advanced cloud engineering capabilities on AWS or GCP
Monitoring experience (eg. Sensu, Prometheus) and the ability to troubleshoot application and network issues.
Must be available to participate in on-call rotation and some off-hours work.
