Summary

Atlantic BT is seeking a dedicated, hardworking IT team member with strong Customer Support skills, cloud operations experience, and a solid work ethic to join our full-time staff. This role supports client hosting environments in AWS, works the IT support and alert queues, and helps move our remaining console-managed infrastructure into Terraform. Technologies utilized are AWS, Terraform/OpenTofu, Linux, Microsoft Windows, Apache, NGINX, IIS, Load Balancing, CloudFront/CDN, WAF, Redis, MySQL, MSSQL, Varnish, and DNS.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with clients and ABT team members to provide excellent support via phone, email, and tickets
  • Work directly with ABT developers, QA, and project managers to unblock their work and explain infrastructure issues in plain language
  • Design, build and scale customer and application-specific hosting environments in AWS
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform/OpenTofu, and import existing console-managed resources into code
  • Perform network administration tasks, including VPC design, subnetting, routing, security groups, VPN, and DNS
  • Troubleshoot web application performance and security problems
  • Triage and respond to monitoring alerts (CloudWatch, NodePing) and lead incident response
  • Coordinate and execute scheduled client deployments; diagnose CI/CD pipeline failures
  • Perform supporting release tasks: database exports and snapshots, cache invalidations, certificate and secret updates, DNS cutovers
  • Perform security scans, WAF policy tasks, and mitigate problems or vulnerabilities
  • Manage IAM, SSO, and credential rotation; provide least-privilege access paths
  • Install/configure/upgrade servers and perform server administrative tasks
  • Perform migrations of legacy web applications and software
  • Script complex tasks and deployments using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible
  • Monitor and control cloud spend
  • Provide after-hours support and respond to monitoring alerts on a rotating schedule
  • Write documentation for team processes, procedures, infrastructure, and deployments
  • Contribute to and ensure AtlanticBT IT policies, standards, and procedures are consistently being achieved
  • Represent AtlanticBT internally and externally as an expert IT resource
  • Provide project architecture design input and project retro feedback
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience cloud hosting applications and related activities
    • Amazon Web Services in Production Environments
    • Linux
    • Microsoft Server
    • MS SQL Server
    • MySQL
  • Hands-on Terraform or OpenTofu experience: writing modules, managing state, and importing existing resources
  • Strong networking knowledge: subnetting, routing, DNS, TLS, load balancing, firewall rules, and VPN
  • Comfortable operating legacy console-managed infrastructure while we transition to Terraform / OpenTofu
  • Dependable and professional
  • Positive, self-motivated, quick learner
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with teammates: collaborative, patient, and comfortable being interrupted
  • Ability to work independently and with a team of peers
  • Ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed and willing to take responsibility for them

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • CI/CD automation, especially Bitbucket Pipelines
  • AWS WAF rule authoring and bot management
  • SSO and identity federation (JumpCloud, AWS IAM Identity Center)
  • Observability tooling (Grafana, CloudWatch dashboards, synthetic monitoring)
  • Compliance program support (SOC 2, Vanta)
  • Containers and serverless (ECS, Fargate, Lambda)
  • Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
  • Web application development knowledge and experience in one or more of
    • PHP
    • .Net
    • Node.js
    • Python
