About Helaina

Helaina is reimagining what nutrition can do for human health. Our flagship product, effera®, is a recombinant human lactoferrin — a bioactive protein that, until now, could not be produced at scale. We sell effera® B2B into the adult nutrition and nutraceutical markets and are scaling a commercial organization to bring it to the world.

As we grow, we are building a commercial bench from the ground up. This role is the entry point onto that team — a chance to learn the business of ingredient sales and marketing from the inside and grow into a customer-facing business development career.

About the Role

The Commercial Coordinator keeps our sales and marketing engine running. This is a hands-on entry-level role: you will own the behind-the-scenes work that lets our business development and marketing teams move fast — organizing our CRM, preparing sales materials, coordinating samples and follow-ups, supporting events and campaigns, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

It is also a deliberate development role. You will sit close to the deal cycle and the market, learning how effera® is positioned, how customers buy, and how a commercial team operates. With strong performance, mentorship, and structured on-the-job training, this position is built to grow into a Business Development Manager role over time.

What You'll Do

Sales support

  • Maintain the CRM — log activity, update contacts and opportunities, and keep the pipeline clean and current

  • Prepare and format sales materials, decks, one-pagers, and proposals for the business development team

  • Coordinate product sample requests, shipments, and follow-up tracking with customers and prospects

  • Schedule meetings, prep call agendas, capture notes, and track action items and next steps

  • Assist with quotes, order documentation, and handoffs between sales, operations, and finance

Marketing support

  • Help coordinate marketing campaigns, email sends, and content calendars

  • Support trade shows, conferences, and events — logistics, materials, registrations, and follow-up lists

  • Organize marketing and sales collateral so the team can find and reuse it easily

  • Compile basic reporting on pipeline, campaign activity, and lead follow-through

Team & operations

  • Serve as an organized, reliable point of coordination across the commercial team

  • Own recurring administrative processes and look for ways to make them run better

  • Take on stretch projects that build the skills needed for a business development career

Your Growth Path

This role is intentionally structured as the first rung on the commercial ladder. Over time, and with demonstrated performance, you'll take on increasing customer-facing responsibility — qualifying leads, supporting deals directly, and eventually managing your own accounts and pipeline as a Business Development Manager.

  • Months 0–6: Master the administrative and coordination core; learn effera®, our customers, and our commercial process.

  • Months 6–18: Take ownership of lead qualification and outbound support; partner directly with BD on active opportunities.

  • 18+ months: Step into a Business Development Manager track with your own accounts and revenue responsibility.

Timelines are illustrative — advancement is based on readiness and business need, not a fixed clock.

Who You Are
  • 0–2 years of professional experience; recent graduates and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply

  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented — you keep track of the small things so others don't have to

  • A clear, professional communicator, comfortable working with internal teams and external customers

  • Proactive and reliable; you follow through and take ownership without being chased

  • Comfortable with software and quick to learn tools like CRMs, spreadsheets, and slide decks

  • Genuinely eager to build a career in sales and business development — this is a growth role and you want to grow

  • Curious about science, nutrition, or ingredients is a plus, but not required
