OVERVIEW:

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, analytical, and resourceful individual to join its strategy and business development (SBD) arm, working with our Investor Relations and External Communications groups. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team of analysts to deliver high-quality commercial insights that drive business strategy. You’ll be part of an inclusive, collegial, and dynamic working environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

You’ll work with senior stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive commercial insights strategy that aligns with organizational goals. You’ll oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data that impacts marketing efforts, client engagement and retention strategies, product development, and communication and branding initiatives. You’ll also present strategic recommendations to senior leadership. You’ll work with a group of stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand their needs and inform your design, buildout, and delivery of analyses. You’ll collaborate with our international data and software development teams to generate and review improvements that expand available data for analysis and refine the systems used for relationship management, external communications, transaction processing, and client experience.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

•    A bachelor’s degree and at least six years of relevant experience working in a commercial insights or strategic analysis role are required. An advanced degree in business, economics, data science, or a related field is a plus but not required.
•    Candidates should have demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
•    Individuals with exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and provide strategic insights will excel in this role.
•    We seek candidates who are proficient in using Python for data retrieval, transformation, and visualization. Advanced working knowledge of Excel is required, as is proficiency with business intelligence programs (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
•    Familiarity with applied statistics is required; proficiency is preferred.
•    Experience with engagement and/or customer relationship management (CRM) data is a plus but not required.
•    The expected annual base salary for this position is $180,000 to $240,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
