At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

Are you the best texter you know? The biggest pop culture lover in your friend group? Is your camera roll filled with reaction images you’ve curated from the depths of the internet, ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice?

Lyft is looking for a culture-obsessed Community Manager to be the voice of our brand presence on Social Media. Sitting on our Social Content team, you'll own our voice across social channels, managing the daily rhythms of posting content while showing up in social conversation: spotting a viral video at 10am, dropping the perfect comment by 10:02, and having a Ride Code in the creator’s DMs by lunch.

You'll work in close partnership with the rest of our Social team, as well as Support, Brand, Creative, Comms, and our agency partners. You'll also be a translator between what the internet is saying and what the business needs to know, reporting back on social performance as well as upcoming trends and opportunities.

This role requires being quick on your feet, a skilled writer, passionate about culture, and interested in the impact community-first marketing can have on a global business. You should also be prepared to be the funniest person in every Slack thread (but you already knew that).

Responsibilities:
  • Be the voice of Lyft social and drive our daily reaction engine
    • Maintain a consistent, unmistakably Lyft voice across comments, replies, DMs, and reposts on Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Reddit, and LinkedIn
    • Drive and manage our Threads channel, included replies, owned responses, and more
    • Lead our surprise and delight initiatives on social, driving earned impact with creators
    • Monitor successful comments and conversations and be able to tell the story of impact
    • Manage day-to-day content publishing across Lyft's consumer social accounts — scheduling, copy, final QA, and in-platform posting
  • Play offense in culture
    • Be very online: Spend hours of your day on the actual platforms, listening for relevant conversations
    • Repost and engage with UGC, and working hand-in-hand with Support to escalate rider and driver issues surfacing in social — quickly, with the right context, to the right people
    • Bring proactive opportunities to the team with a point of view: what the moment is, why Lyft has a right to play, and what we'd say
  • Tell the story of the work
    • Socialize wins, learnings, and cultural insight across the org — recaps, readouts, and highlight reels that make the value of community work obvious. You don’t just do the thing—you storytell about the thing internally, helping others understand your impact
    • Turn scattered engagement into a narrative: what we did, what happened, what we do next
    • Feed community signal back into Product, Brand, and Comms so the internet's read on Lyft actually informs decisions
    • Own recurring and ad-hoc social reporting: channel performance, engagement, sentiment, community health, and trend forecasting. Package it so stakeholders across Marketing and beyond actually read it
Experience:
  • 4+ years in social media, community management, or a closely-related role at an agency or consumer brand (Please be prepared to share links to your best content, whether for a brand or on your personal channels)
  • A strong, snappy writer. You write short, you write funny when it's called for, and you can go from a warm one-line reply to a clean stakeholder summary without changing gears awkwardly
  • Extremely proactive and quick on your feet. You don't wait to be told what the community is saying—you already know, and you already have three ideas
  • Deep fluency in social listening and UGC tooling (Sprinklr, Brandwatch, Dash Social, Later, or similar)—enough to build a scan routine, not just run a report
  • You live on the internet
  • Sound editorial judgment—you know when to jump in, when to hold back, and when to escalate…especially on sensitive moments
  • Comfort with data: you can interpret performance and sentiment signals and turn them into a recommendation
  • High EQ and patience. You're often the first human a frustrated rider or driver talks to
  • How you show up
    • You move fast without garnering “silence, brands”
    • You build scalable systems—rather than just engaging, you build frameworks that make engagement repeatable
    • You're as good at explaining the work as doing it, helping others internally understand the impact of social
    • You're generous with your ideas (because you know you’ll have more)
Benefits:
  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
  • Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership
