We’re on a mission to save lives and property, leading the next wave in smart home technology and fire prevention with Ting. This intelligent sensor and concierge service monitors a home’s electrical network to detect electrical hazards that often lead to the most devastating and catastrophic fires. While on the job preventing fires inside a home, Ting also helps monitor the electrical grid, contributing to increased community fire safety and reduced environmental impact that comes with fire reduction. We’re steadfastly addressing the long-underserved realm of electrical fire prevention with leading-edge technology and embarking on the next stage of our growth. Visit tingfire.com for more information.

About the Role

We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented contractor to support the monthly execution of our vendor and user access review program. This is a process-driven, administrative role — not a technical security position. The work follows a clear monthly rhythm and is well-suited for someone who thrives on structure, accountability, and getting things across the finish line.

You’ll work directly under our security and compliance owner, coordinating with internal stakeholders, maintaining records in Vanta and Jira, and producing a monthly closeout summary. No security certifications or deep technical background required — what matters most is that you’re organized, persistent, and comfortable navigating SaaS tools independently.

This engagement is structured around a predictable monthly operating cadence — Week 1 through Week 4 each have defined focus areas — making it easy to plan around your other commitments. Core daytime hours are required. This is an ongoing contract with no defined end date.

Responsibilities

  • Review and track monthly vendor review activities, confirming kickoff and following up with owners on overdue or incomplete items.
  • Validate that vendor records in Vanta are complete, including business purpose, data classification, security certifications, and contract status.
  • Coordinate user access reviews: gather reviewer input, confirm assignments and due dates, and escalate blockers.
  • Input access review results into Vanta and create follow-up Jira tickets for remediation items such as removing former users or correcting role assignments.
  • Track and update open risk items with current status, owner, and expected resolution date.
  • Collect and organize evidence for completed vendor and access review activities.
  • Deliver a monthly closeout summary covering completed reviews, outstanding items, risks identified, and recommended escalations.
  • Flag issues to the security/compliance owner that require internal approval or leadership action.

Who You Are

  • Organized and process-driven: You follow checklists, track open items, and don’t let things fall through the cracks.
  • A self-starter: You can manage a recurring workflow independently with minimal hand-holding.
  • Communicative: You know when to follow up, when to escalate, and how to get a response from a busy stakeholder.
  • Comfortable with SaaS tools: You pick up new platforms quickly. Experience with Vanta, Jira, or similar tools is a plus but not required.
  • Reliable during core daytime hours: This role requires consistent availability during standard business hours, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • Background in administrative coordination, operations, or compliance support — not necessarily in a security context.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage recurring tasks and produce consistent documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise status updates.
  • Experience with tools such as Slack, Jira, or audit/GRC platforms is helpful.
  • No security certifications or technical security background required.
