Conference Operations Director (NSC 2027)

Part timeTo advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will provide project management and operational support to the assigned supervisor, including management of annual plans; and may, depending on function and department, assist in completing regular communications initiatives on behalf of supervisor.This position starts out at 20 hours per week, but has potential to reach up to 40 hours at times, particularly in the final 2 months of planning.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:
- Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
- Maintaining spiritual disciplines for personal and ministry growth
- Modeling wisdom and maturity in the balance of family, church, and ministry life
Process and Project Leadership
- Build and maintain the master project plan for the conference team
- Develop timelines and milestones for major components of the conference
- Track progress across all conference teams, ensuring deadlines are being met
- Follow up with team leaders on deliverables
- Identify bottlenecks and risks
- Escalate issues requiring leadership decisions
- Keep the Conference Director informed
Operations Leadership
Coordinate the operational systems behind the conference.
- Oversee registration processes, volunteer systems, venue logistics, room setup/AV coordination, transportation/hospitality, supply management and emergency planning.
- Create and maintain the conference budget. Track operational spending, monitor expenses, ensure the conference stays within budget.
- Lead operations onsite during the event.

Organizational and Project Management Skills
- Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills; detail oriented
- Project management skills, including the ability to monitor and coordinate a wide variety of reports
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Demonstrated commitment to dependability and maintaining a consistent presence in the office
- Adaptable and able to change priorities as work demands
- Ability to organize events, workflow, and the details involved and work under pressure of deadlines
- Exhibits learning agility and is open to learning new concepts, skills, and methods
- Ability to set priorities, make decisions, meet deadlines, and resolve complex problems independently
- Takes initiative and works independently with limited direct supervision
- Good analytical skills
- Demonstrated commitment to dependability and maintaining a consistent presence in the office
- Demonstrated ability to support the success of a senior leader and/or ministry/department
- A working knowledge of web communications strategies
- Prior experience with InterVarsity or other campus ministry is highly desirable
- A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Traveling as needed for planning meetings or ministry events
- One year of experience with communications responsibilities (internal or external) required; two or more years strongly desired
- Minimum of two years of experience with significant administrative/operational responsibilities.
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
