Work Location:

Remote - USA

Schedule:

Full time

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will preserve the health and integrity of all constituent records within our Salesforce CRM. This role owns the full data quality lifecycle — from identifying and resolving duplicate records, to enriching constituent profiles through data appends to maintaining ongoing data governance standards across the organization. This role will also manage a team of professionals focused on the management of data hygiene related to constituent records.
This is a detail-oriented, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of data management and relationship stewardship. The right candidate will bring a methodical mindset, strong Salesforce experience, leadership discernment, and a genuine understanding of why clean data matters in a nonprofit fundraising environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Personal:

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world

Duplicate Record Management:

  • Conduct systematic identification and review of duplicate constituent records in Salesforce using deduplication tools and manual audits
  • Execute record merge operations with precision, preserving all relevant giving history, relationships, and engagement data
  • Establish and maintain a deduplication schedule and log, track volume and trends over time
  • Develop and document merge rules and criteria to standardize the deduplication process across record types (individuals, organizations, households)

Data Appends & Enrichment:

  • Coordinate and execute data append projects using third-party vendors, including NCOA (address updates), email append, phone append, and wealth screening services
  • Evaluate vendor data quality and manage vendor relationships in partnership with leadership
  • Import and map appended data back into Salesforce accurately, preserving data integrity and field mapping conventions
  • Maintain a data enrichment calendar aligned to annual fundraising campaigns and appeals

Ongoing CRM Record Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance on constituent records including address verification, deceased/inactive flagging, donor preferences, organizational affiliations, and relationship updates
  • Monitor and resolve data quality flags, system alerts, and exception reports on a regular basis
  • Partner with development and program staff to resolve data discrepancies surfaced through constituent interactions or returned mail
  • Manage mass data imports and exports with precision, using Data Loader or comparable tools

Data Governance & Standards:

  • Develop, document, and enforce data entry standards and naming conventions across the CRM
  • Conduct regular data quality audits and produce health metrics reports for leadership
  • Train and advise staff on data entry best practices to prevent data degradation at the source
  • Maintain a data governance log and documentation library for all hygiene processes and decisions

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • 2+ years of experience in CRM data management, database administration, or a closely related role
  • Hands-on experience working within Salesforce, preferably Salesforce NPSP or Nonprofit Cloud
  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft Software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Google Sheets is preferred
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience with data append vendors and NCOA processing
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high volumes of records without sacrificing accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience maintaining confidential records
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment

Preferred:

  • Experience in a nonprofit organization, particularly in a development or fundraising operations context
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Data Loader, Apsona, DemandTools, or similar data management tools
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR basics)
  • Salesforce Administrator certification (ADM 201) or willingness to pursue certification
  • Experience with data quality scorecards or governance documentation

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Data literacy and analytical thinking
  • Proactive problem identification
  • Commitment to data as a strategic asset
  • Process discipline and follow through
  • Communication across technical/non-technical audiences

  • Adaptability in a dynamic nonprofit environment

Pay Range: $45,324.00 - $60,420.00 per year
