WHO WE ARE

New York Magazine is seeking a strategic, creative, and data-driven Director of Consumer Marketing to lead the vision and execution of marketing initiatives across our portfolio of brands. This leadership role will be responsible for developing and optimizing full-funnel marketing strategies that grow audience engagement, drive subscriptions, and elevate brand loyalty across digital and offline channels.

As a key member of the Consumer Revenue team, you will oversee campaigns that span awareness, consideration, conversion, and retention. You’ll bring a deep understanding of audience behavior and marketing performance metrics to craft compelling, results-oriented strategies. Working cross-functionally with teams including Brand, Editorial, Analytics, Product, and Engineering, you will ensure that our marketing efforts are cohesive, innovative, and aligned with the broader objectives of New York Magazine.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Lead Consumer Marketing Strategy:Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that support audience growth, brand awareness, product adoption, and revenue generation. Own and evolve the full marketing funnel, from campaign ideation through execution and performance analysis.
  • Oversee Multi-Channel Campaigns: Manage marketing initiatives across a range of channels including digital (email, social media, display, search), offline (print, OOH, events, podcasts), and partnerships (affiliate, influencer, sponsorships). Optimize campaigns for both short-term performance and long-term brand value.
  • Data-Driven Insights and Performance Optimization: Leverage data and analytics to inform marketing strategies and tactics. Collaborate with Analytics and Data Science teams to develop performance dashboards, run A/B tests, and use insights to iterate and improve campaign results.
  • Audience-Centric Messaging and Positioning: Work closely with Brand and Editorial teams to ensure consistent and compelling messaging that resonates with core audience segments. Tailor marketing narratives to drive engagement and brand affinity while respecting the editorial voice.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Creative, Editorial, and Revenue to support launches, promotions, and initiatives that require coordinated go-to-market planning. Drive alignment and communication across departments.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor performance marketing team. Establish KPIs, set performance targets, and foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
WHO YOU ARE
  • 8+ years of experience in consumer marketing, brand marketing, or growth marketing within a media, publishing, or direct-to-consumer business.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and scale marketing programs across multiple channels.
  • Strong track record of planning and executing successful marketing campaigns that drive audience growth and revenue.
  • Deep understanding of marketing tech stacks, customer journeys, and data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate insights into strategic action and clearly present to leadership.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and resourceful—able to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with subscription and membership models is a strong plus.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
