About Shef
At Shef, we're putting world-class cooking back at the center of the table by connecting people with the most talented chefs in their city. We give independent chefs—many of them award-winning, classically trained, or veterans of acclaimed kitchens—a platform to build their own following and a meaningful livelihood doing what they love.
We have raised over $100M from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Craft Ventures, and M13, as well as founders and executives from Instacart, TaskRabbit, StubHub, AngelList, Lyft, Airbnb, and Yelp. We have a ton of exciting work ahead of us and are excited to have you join us!
As Content & Community Manager at Shef, you'll be our creative engine—someone who can grab their phone to shoot compelling TikTok content and then build workflows to scale that creation. This isn't your traditional social media role. We're looking for a modern creator who thinks strategically, loves experimenting with new platforms and formats, and gets excited about using smart tools and automation to amplify reach.
You'll own our content strategy from ideation to execution, driving traffic and generating leads that convert into Shef subscribers. The ideal candidate is someone who's built a following, understands what makes content shareable, and has probably experimented with automation tools or simple integrations to scale their work. You're scrappy enough to handle solo content creation but strategic enough to build sustainable systems that grow our reach.
You'll be joining an energetic, scrappy team in our NYC office, working hybrid with 3 days in-office collaboration. This role reports to the Associate Director, Acquisition and is perfect for someone who wants to blend creativity with smart process innovation to drive real business impact.
- Own Shef's organic content engine end to end — strategy, calendar, and hands-on creation across Instagram, TikTok, blog, email, and SMS, from phone-shot video to higher-production shoots
- Grow and engage our Instagram and TikTok audiences: post consistently, jump on trends and viral moments, and foster genuine community in the comments
- Manage external creators producing organic and paid social creative, with a focus on Meta and TikTok
- Run influencer campaigns end to end — sourcing, briefs, budgets, and relationships
- Build and manage digital and brand partnerships and experiential programs (food events, pop-ups, community activations) that drive measurable business impact
- Use data and testing to measure content and channel performance, and optimize what we make and where we invest
- Scale output with systems — AI-assisted ideation and editing, automated scheduling and repurposing workflows, and constant experimentation with new tools and formats
Required:
- Experience creating content for social platforms with proven growth results
- Influencer marketing or partnership experience
- Experience with performance creative for paid advertising
- Hands-on video creation and editing skills (CapCut, similar tools)
- Familiarity with AI content creation tools (ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.)
- Basic technical skills—you've built something, automated something, vibe coded something into the world
- Data-driven mindset with ability to measure and optimize content performance
- Understanding of conversion funnels and how content drives business metrics
- Scrappy execution style with strategic thinking approach
Bonus Points:
- Experience in food, lifestyle, or marketplace content
- Comfortable with being on camera and chronically online
