Design clear, engaging content for AI-driven features at Spotify, partnering with teams to improve user interactions and content strategy.
We’re looking for a Content Designer to join the Personalization Design team at Spotify, a multidisciplinary group building some of the world’s most loved audio experiences, including Discover Weekly, AI DJ, and Prompted Playlist. We design how listeners discover, explore, and connect with music, podcasts, and audiobooks, shaping experiences that feel personal, playful, and deeply intuitive at global scale.
This role sits at the intersection of language, systems, and intelligence. You’ll help define how users express intent, understand recommendations, and collaborate with Spotify through words—moving discovery from something that happens to listeners into something they actively shape. Through thoughtful content design, you’ll give form, clarity, and personality to agentic, LLM-powered experiences.
In this role, you’ll also focus on designing clear, human, and expressive content across AI-driven features, with an emphasis on prompts, conversational flows, feedback, and system language that help users steer recommendations with confidence.
This is a mid-level role for someone who’s confident designing product copy and content systems, excited by ambiguity and emerging technology, and motivated by the challenge of giving Spotify’s agentic experiences a voice that feels intuitive, trustworthy, and unmistakably Spotify.
What You'll Do
- Lead content strategy for agentic products. Define and own how Spotify communicates through LLMs by setting voice, personality, and tone standards. Build content frameworks used by composition and engineering.
- Design, author, and evaluate prompts and system instructions for generative features. Build reusable prompt templates, experiments, and guardrails with product, engineering, and safety teams.
- Write and iterate on high-quality, in-product language (microcopy, help text, error states, onboarding, notifications, tooltips, naming) that is accessible, inclusive, and measurable.
- Partner with product managers, designers, researchers, and engineers to translate user and business needs into content requirements; participate in discovery, design critiques, and localization planning.
- Partner with engineers to design and run human-in-the-loop evaluations. You’ll define what "good" looks like for AI-generated text and use those insights to tune model performance.
Who You Are
- You’re an experienced content designer and UX writer, with a portfolio that shows you can solve complex problems through language.
- You have a background in conversation design and character development, and bringing brands to life through applied voice and tone guidelines.
- You have hands-on experience working with LLMs, prompt design, and evaluation. You understand the difference between a zero-shot and few-shot prompt, and you know how to iterate on instructions to get a specific tonal output and avoid hallucinations.
- You can navigate ambiguity, collaborate across teams and subject areas, and tackle complex flows that span states, surfaces, or systems.
- Bonus: Experience with LLM-as-a-Judge frameworks, evaluation scaling, or basic scripting for testing prompts in notebooks & native or near-native proficiency in a second language.
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in either New York or Boston.
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in-person meetings, but give you the flexibility to work from home.
- This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.
The United States base range for this position is $119,424 - $170,606 plus equity.
