ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm’s Audio Production team is a creative, collaborative group of producers from both traditional and new media backgrounds. They maintain the highest standards for journalism and integrity in storytelling, while producing distinct content for theSkimm’s unique voice and brand.

As we grow, we’re looking for an experienced Audio Producer and writer to work with theSkimm's audio team to develop and execute a finance program targeted at supporting millennial women making big money decisions. Reporting to theSkimm’s VP of Content Studios, you’ll be researching, booking, pre-interviewing, recording, and writing. This position will also work closely with Finance Editors and other editorial staff. This role is for a multi-talented self-starter with a passion for creating audio content that is not only engaging, but provides real utility. This will begin as a 6-month full-time, temporary position with potential to convert to a full-time position. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Collaborate with the team to develop and evolve finance program format, inclusive of editorial structure and sound design
• Pitch, research, pre-interview, interview, write and edit weekly episodes
• Produce audio with ProTools, including mixing and mastering the final podcast
• Work with cross-departmental stakeholders in marketing and sales on the promotion and revenue strategy for program

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ yrs experience in audio editorial and technical production, with strong ability to manage both pre and post-production (Pro-tools expertise required)
• 2-3+ yrs experience in financial content creation or writing for a finance or news publication organization
• Strong journalistic judgment with a specific eye for fact-checking standards
• Experience field recording 
• Experience learning and writing in a specific brand voice
• Proficiency in cutting and mixing tape for audio publications
• Experience editing and mastering podcasts for distribution
• Calm under pressure, with ability to work on tight production deadlines
• Highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple work streams
• Collaborative and creative spirit a must
• Excellent communicator with experience working with cross functional teams 
• Passionate about theSkimm and its mission
